I had a large group dinner here and our waiter and the manager were incredibly kind and helpful. The food was fantastic and the drinks were wonderful. Would definitely recommend for any meal, but especially a special occasion. I felt well taken care of and all my friends left incredibly happy. If the weather is nice, don’t hesitate to sit outside!
We hadn’t been here in several years, and our previous experience was very good, but this visit (under apparently new ownership) was stellar! The atmosphere is idyllic, to the point where if I were ever to open my own place, I’d almost want to copy the layout exactly, and it even begins on the walk from the parking lot to the restaurant…it’s simple yet memorable. Tonight, we had the pleasure of being served by Kamilah (hope I spelled it right!) and she was engaging, attentive, cool, and just absolutely what you want in a server, IMHO, at a mid/high level restaurant. She elevated what was already a wonderful experience with the ambiance and killer drinks, and helped finish one that was exceptional by the time we finished our fantastic meals. The carrot soup was a thousand times better than you might imagine it could be. The chicken parm, a sometimes mundane dish, was excellent. The homemade ice cream was a solid finisher, and overall we just loved the whole vibe of the night. Cant wait to return 😃😍
Creative menu perfectly executed. Excellent service. Outside table perfect.
A true gem in the Berkshires! Classy decor, friendly, attentive and efficient staff. Food is outstanding and beautifully presented.
Both indoor and outdoor seating - comfortable and attractive.

Amazing food, atmosphere, and the best service I have had in a very long time. Drove by this place on the way to our hotel at Gedney Farms. Made a reservation for the following evening & walked over, best food we have had on our trip hands down. Can’t recommend this place enough.
We had dinner at Cantina 229 the other night and it was great. First of all, it was a cold, miserable night, and we felt better the minute we walked into the dining room. Warm lights, a crackling fire in the wood stove, and many smiling faces greeted us. We happily sipped hot ginger tea with turmeric while looking at the menu. After ordering drinks and dinner, the fun really began. My mushroom pasta was a perfect blend of sliced mushrooms atop thick homemade pasta in a richly flavored sauce consisting of I-don’t-know-what. My friend ordered fried tofu. She loved it. The tofu was crispy on the outside and soft and creamy inside, and it was all topped with plenty of delicate farm greens. Steak Tartare wasn’t on the menu that night, but was offered to us as a special. Thankfully we couldn’t say no. It was a real triumph of flavors. For dessert we shared a warm maple apple crisp and a dark chocolate terrine accompanied by beet sorbet. Beet sorbet? Delicious! There is some serious cooking going on here.
I must also applaud the waitstaff, as well as the chef. Not only are they extremely efficient, they create an atmosphere of friendly comradery that permeates the whole room. I’m definitely coming back, and when I do, I’m going to try the black bass. And someday I’m ordering the burger, just because it looks like it might be the best burger ever!
We were delighted to discover this wonderful restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was even better. My husband had skate wing with black rice that he felt was exceptional. The hors d’ oeuvres were positively delicious - the tofu, mac and cheese and cauliflower soup, all delightful. This will be our go to place.

We had a fabulous dinner here Sunday night! Absolutely delicious food and as other reviewers have said, the staff is super friendly. The place feels cozy and local, but the food would rate 5 stars in any big city. So happy to have the Cantina right down the street!

How magical to be transported back in time and enjoy a fantastic meal at the newly reopened CANTINA 229! It felt like coming home—if your home has an excellent chef, very attentive servers and a great bartender. My fish dish was cooked to perfection. The salad as locavore as you can get. Our party of 4 friends left with big smiles and satisfied bellies. We will be back soon!
My partner and I had the loveliest meal and evening the other night—delicious bites, attentive service, elegant and inviting atmosphere. 10/10, can’t wait to return soon!
