Okay so came across this place while out and about in Newburyport. It's a mixed review because although the atmosphere was very public, you know very cool and the food was very good. They make good burgers. It was the attitude of the three staff members I encountered that brought the rating down. So first we walk in. There's no menu posted outside like some restaurants do so. My group walks and then I asked if we could see a menu and the person behind the counter gave me such a luck as like how dare you ask for a menu but gave it to me. I was like whatever. Upstairs we sit down and you know we're waiting and a waiter comes over and says his shift has ended but he wants to get us started with some water. Well that was really nice of him. Cool. But then we noticed that we were shorter menu. So we asked if we could have another menu for our party and he said yeah there should be some over there like he expected us to go get it ourselves and I was like well. Can you go get one? Thanks. I mean if you weren't willing to get us some menu you shouldn't have brought us water and just waited for our waitress so waiter to come over and get us going. We're in no hurry. We're all just gabbing and talking. You know hanging out. When I go to order my burger the waitress asked me if I wanted it pink or no pink. I said medium well and she said we only serve pink or no pink and I inquired while it's pink rare and no pink. Well done. What's the relationship? I've never been here before. And she seemed very perturbed that I was asking and just reiterated the line pink or no pink I'm like. I'm sorry there are temperature differences to the way to cook a burger. You know little pink in the middle is medium medium. Well sometimes pink. Is it the whole burger? That's rare, etc. I think she could have just said oh you know our pink is more like a medium. Okay that would have been fine. I would have understood that. When the mail comes the burgers. Like I said and the sandwiches are amazing, they're very well made stocked full of meat. The french fries are hand cut. Very tasty but the french fries were a little cool. We didn't say anything cuz at that point we were just like look. Let's eat and get out of here. They served their drinks and plastic Dixie cups which was kind of odd but okay whatever. Just use a glass or a bigger plastic cup like a red Solo cup. I get it. The cup is part of your vibe. I suppose. Maybe everybody was just having a bad day. I'll have to go back sometime and try it again.

Service was great however I was charged a 100% tip on my bill after leaving cash. I’ve been trying to resolve it for days but there’s never a manager around. The host takes down my name and number to give to the manager and then no one calls back. I wanted to give them the chance to fix it so they wouldn’t get hit with a chargeback fee but after no effort on their part to call me back I just went ahead and disputed it.

Went in for 25 cents wings, got 32 and charged me 45. Something is not adding up. Bad service, and kids size drinks for adults. Ridiculous. Not eating here again

The view was fantastic and a great place to enjoy the wind and sea. I had just gone for drinks on Mother’s Day and was grateful for the N/A drink options at the bar. My attendant was kind and made the drinks well. I loved the cucumber and mint garnish. He also wished me a Mother’s Day and went above and beyond for me that day as I was also alone - by choice! LOL I’m sure other moms understand that. I will definitely be back again to enjoy some more of those lovely drinks and enjoy the scenic view. Thank you for a great experience!

I love this spot but I am most certainly taking off a star because they charge extra for mayo and bbq sauce when you get a burger
This change is new and we are long time patrons as their NH and Ma location.
That would be like going to a sushi spot and they tell you that you have to pay extra for soy sauce…. Get out of here!!

The Goat has such a fun atmosphere with one of the best views in the area. Absolutely love the setting it’s vibrant, lively, and just a really enjoyable place to spend time. The food is also really good and pairs perfectly with the overall vibe.
Burgers are easily customized. All varieties are available with a beef burger, grilled chicken, fried chicken, turkey burger or veggie burger. Included sides are hand cut fries (excellent!), potato salad (very fresh, highly recommend), tumbleweeds, cole slaw. Portions are generous and excellent quality. Prices are very reasonable. Good variety of draft beers and custom Goat drinks..

I love this place for the most part. But one of the bartenders basically forced me into tipping more. I closed out my tab and gave a very reasonable tip. I don’t believe bartenders should make 20% or more like regular servers. They grab/pour your drink… that’s all. So getting upset at customers about tip prices is highly unprofessional and quite inappropriate. Pretty obnoxious behavior from the staff if you ask me…do better.

I was really looking forward to trying The Goat, but this DoorDash order was a total waste of money. As the photo shows, the food arrived messy and ice cold. The cheese sauce had a congealed skin on it (unappetizing!), the burger was thrown together with zero care, and the portion of fries was tiny for the price. Not worth it at all.
