The atmosphere was adorable and the coffee was great…however, we were approached by who I assume is the owner and quickly told us “we don’t allow dogs” which I quickly responded with “she’s a service dog”. The service dog had a vest on and paperwork is stored IN the vest. Thought it was odd considering the entire decor of the restaurant was decorated in dog paraphernalia. Whatever fine…..we ordered two coffee and two breakfast sandwich and the total was $31. That’s crazy. The sandwich was nothing special and was a microwaved egg, not a real one. Sorry but not worth the price and wasn’t happy about being approached the way we were.
Loved my trip to Olives! Counter staff were efficient and helpful. Food was delicious! We enjoyed our food out back at the picnic table
Small coffee shop with delicious food and coffee. The breakfast sandwich on an English muffin and vanilla iced latte turned my bad morning right around. The pastries and breads looked incredible. If I revisit the area, I'll absolutely return.
Great service with a smile. Fun breakfast food items.
A go-to in Newburyport!
Great coffee, good for a quick stop to refuel
Best coffee in Newburyport!
Olive’s Coffee & Bakehouse is always a great stop! The staff is super helpful and accommodating with my dietary preferences, which I really appreciate. Their breakfast sandwiches are absolutely delicious, and the pink iced tea lemonade has quickly become my new favorite drink. Highly recommend!
I want to start by saying that the staff here is absolutely wonderful. Everyone I interacted with was kind, cheerful, and genuinely helpful. Their warmth created such a welcoming environment that I was fully prepared to leave a glowing review.
Unfortunately, that changed when I encountered the owner. After ordering two coffees and a scone, I politely asked for a cup of ice. Rather than a simple “no” or explanation, I was abruptly told to get back in line and pay for an empty cup. The tone was unnecessarily harsh and dismissive, which took me by surprise given how lovely the rest of the experience had been.
It was also easy to tell who the owner was—standing behind the friendly staff, arms crossed, and watching with a scowl, ready to pounce on any perceived misstep. The contrast between her demeanor and that of her team was stark and unfortunate.
This place has a lot of potential thanks to its great staff and product, but the owner’s attitude left a sour taste that even the best scone couldn’t fix.
Great place to stop and pick up a coffee and food. No in store seating. Staff were very pleasant

Cute little Coffee shop. Coffee could be stronger but most probably like it the way it is. Great fresh piles of pastries. The muffins are delicious.

I’ve never really enjoyed coming in here (6+ times). Don’t really find the staff to be friendly. Usually stop off if I’m in a rush heading out of town. Plenty of other amazing places in NBPT to go to for great coffee, baked goods, friendly staff and actual indoor seating. It’s a shame because the coffee is really good.

Stopped by for bagels, pastries and coffee. I am thrilled to report that they have scallion cream cheese!!! Absolutely delicious, although I didn’t see it on their menu. I might have missed it. I’m hoping that they always have it because I would go there for this alone.
There’s some extra parking around the back, and the street has had lots of available spaces every time we’ve gone past.
Had to drop a star for no seating. It would be even better if there were, although spacewise it would only help a lucky few at a time. But it could be you!
Dietary restrictions: Gf bread option and a gf and vegan sweet treat.
Kid-friendliness: Has your usual cafe offerings. I’ve never seen a kid not love a croissant!
Wheelchair accessibility: No wheelchair or stroller access. I.e no ramp. To enter and exit you need to get up 4-6 steps, and can’t see the counter to order from below.
