The bar and atmosphere are worth experiencing at least once. The Irish pub vibes are perfect, but that is the only appeal of The Port Tavern. The food was overly salted, and the service, while friendly, was incredibly slow. Newburyport is filled with amazing restaurants, but The Port Tavern isn't one of them.

My husband and I visited the Port Tavern for our anniversary and it was fantastic. Tried their cosmo and old fashioned, both were very good. I ordered the Caesar salad with steak tips and the steak was cooked perfectly. My husband tried one of the smash burgers that were on special and he really liked his meal as well. Cool vibe inside. Outdoor seating available. We loved this spot.

Nice place, great staff, but sweating the whole time I was there. I don't come to a restaurant to spend lots of money and sweat in the humid air the whole time. The waitress tried to help and was great but it was a hot sticky experience. I like to come to a restaurant for a refreshing comfortable experience. Oh well. Won't come back in the summer.
Our family recently gathered here, and Abby took excellent care of us. Great drinks, wonderful Staff and really good pub fare. Very friendly atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

Took my Mom up to Thornbury and we had the most spectacular lunch on the patio at The Port Tavern. The view over the marina looking towards the turquoise waters of Georgian Bay was mesmerizing. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu.. The food was absolutely delicious! I ordered The Tavern Dry Aged Steak Burger and it has to be the best burger I have ever had in my entire life! So good, was ready to head back from Toronto the next day to order again. Mom had the Fish & Chips. Another winner on the menu. The Cod was lightly battered and moist, accompanied by a generous portion of fries. The entire outing was flawless and can hardly wait to return …. Checking my calendar now!
