We had a wonderful dinner at Buttonwood, we had two young children with us and very much appreciated how quickly the appetizers came out for the kids as well as the kid specific meal we had ordered. It made such a huge difference to have the kids eating early and we thought that was incredibly thoughtful and very much appreciated it!
We had a great meal here. The food was excellent and the service attentive and warm. There is a nice friendly vibe here which added to our enjoyment. There appeared to be lots of regulars. We plan to be back!
Love the "farm to table" concept, and we try to support chef-owned businesses. Had mussels with chorizo, nicely flavored, but my wife, who has certain food sensitivities, found them too salty. Room was noisy, with only half the tables filled later in the evening. Would like to see more specials on the menu (which is limited to just a handul of entrees), especially on the weekends, when the restaurant would be expected to be more popular.
Swordfish was creative and outstanding! Don't miss the cornbread — it will keep you coming back.
This is our second time back at Buttonwood after having a wonderful experience about 10 days ago. Our second visit was also great. Such a talented team and chef. Our bartender was lovely and very knowledgeable about food and wine. They also carry some spirits we enjoy like The Botanist. It is just a really well done place and worth the drive from Cambridge. My only other observation is that the restaurant is a little too cold, even for this hot summer. I brought a long sleeve shirt and a jacket, but would prefer if the place was a little warmer. It won't stop me from going back, but I think this attentive staff should maybe notice other diners, especially women layering up. Would definitely recommend and give it the highest rating.
Great food, good service. It is just TOO LOUD. We went early to avoid the din but even at 6:20 it was very difficult to have a conversation. We would go more often if they could achieve some noise abatement.
A perfect dining experience. It helped that it was a delightful evening and we sat outside. Our server Sinead, we very helpful, friendly and attentive. She knew the menu, wines and cocktail list very well assisting us with our selections. The food was delicious. The mussels were the best we have ever had. The risotto and spaghettini were delicious. Looking forward to coming back. We will be sure to request Sinead as our server.
Fantastic neighborhood spot. Great food, kind and attentive staff. We'll definitely be back!
Food and cocktail were amazing. My friend and I shared an app and had 2 entrees and cleaned our plates. Looking forward to going back.
Rude server interested only in getting us to order more food and drinks. Talked back to me when I asked him not to clear the table before all of us had finished eating. Food was ok but not great. Won't return.

Love this Newton gem. Reliably excellent, interesting food. Friendly service. Nice selection of wines by the glass.
We went to buttonwood for dinner on a Thursday night and it got filled up pretty quickly. Started out with a hot and dirty and my friend had a sangria, both of with were amazing.
I keep coming back for the pork tallow fires and even tho it is a side, I like getting it as an appetizer. The best fries you will ever have.
For the mains I got the Pork Milanese, it was perfectly crispy and juicy. The mustard sauce added a lot of flavor as well. My friends got the chicken which was hit and the risotto which was extremely satiating.
For desert their signature B3 ice cream cannot be beat. It had brown sugar, brown butter and brownie bites. Always save space for a scoop of that.
If you are in the Newton area, this is a must try. They are open for limited hours so be sure to check that.
There is also outdoor seating with a nice view in the summers.

This is a very cool neighborhood place to eat, drink and gather. We loved the service we got when we were able to have it. They were a short staffed so we waited a 1/2 hour before someone came to get our drink orders.
Great evening, dinner with six friends. The lemon ricotta is a treat! A really special place in Newton Highlands.
We sat outside for the first time this year which was lovely, food (swordfish and pork Milanese) were both delish, spicy margarita excellent! Staff were delightful
