This is a good food place and the four of us had a good experience from that point of view. However, the noise [evel was deafening. I could not hear the two people opposite me and had to yell to speak with the person next to me. These are friends with whom conversation is an important part of getting together and yelling is not conducive to an enjoyable meal. I would not like go back for any inside evening meal.

Cozy location, attention to detail in the dining room shows. Sound absorption is effective and nicely hidden. The cocktails were delicious, shout out to the rumaway bride. The food was phenomenal, simple ingredients nice presentation, delicious flavors. The only downside was the time to get seated. Had a 1915 reservation was not seated until around 1940. Service was friendly, but seemed a little slow.

Deservedly always busy local restaurant with a small but eclectic variety of dishes. The stuffed dates have a delightful combination of sweet and savory. If you ask them for light dressing, you really get light dressing. The cheeseburger is one of the best in Newton. The service is consistently attentive and professional. The chicken under a brick is generous and could probably be shared by two people. Overall, a great place for dinner of 2-4 people.

Excellent food; excellent, friendly service. There's a pleasant, neighborhood high-end but casual ambiance. Really a nice place. We were there on a Tuesday evening and with a full house after about 7:30 PM, the noise level was uncomfortably high.

Every time we go here, the food, staff and entire experience is amazing. Never disappoints. The cornbread app is to die for and the chefs creations imaginative and delicious. Definitely more than just a neighborhood gem.

Delicious food, attentive staff! Loved the salmon. But it can get very cold from people coming and going through the front door. Ask for a table away from the door

This is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. Come as you are as the staff is always welcoming. Special occasions, dinner with the kids, catching up with friends. The food is prepared with love and care. They respect the spices and meats are cooked to the temperature you prefer. I wish they had more desserts choices, something chocolatey or season fruit please.

Buttonwood remains an absolute treasure. Wonderful food and a welcoming and thoroughly professional staff. Pleased to have been a fan for many years and looking forward to many more years of fine food and lovely evenings.

I’ve been coming to Buttonwood about once a week for about three years now, ever since my daughter started dance classes across the street. It’s become a true favorite — sometimes I come with one fellow dance mom, sometimes with a few, and occasionally we gather a big group to enjoy the outdoor patio when it’s nice out.

Over the years, we’ve gotten to know the manager, bartenders, and much of the staff, and every single visit has felt like being welcomed by friends. The service is always impeccable, everyone is genuinely kind, and the food is consistently fantastic.

And the cocktails — they’re what keep us coming back! The Lion’s Tail is the group favorite, and it’s absolutely perfect every time.

Buttonwood is one of those rare spots that gets everything right: atmosphere, food, drinks, and hospitality. Highly recommend!

The service was great and the restaurant has a great ambience. However, the food was disappointing. My burger initially came out raw. Staff was apologetic and did make another burger, but by the time the new burger came out, my partner had finished her meal.

Delicious dinner. The salmon was perfect. Mussels, wings and cornbread were incredible. Great atmosphere. Look forward to our next visit.

Service has really gone down hill. Not a welcoming place. No real personality. Overall just bland and generic. Too bad.

We had an outdoor table for 6 after a very hectic football game and it was absolutely perfect! Dinner, drinks appetizers and service! The menu was amazing! We cannot say enough nice things about Buttonwood❣️
