My first couple of veg*n outings in this town were terrible, so everything since has been a delightful contrast. None less than Clover. Unsure why this chain is not entirely vegan - surely they could replace the cheese and sour cream (and egg) with vegan substitutes - but anyway I had the Mediterranean Bowl: falafels with chickpea and eggplant salad (could not identify any eggplant), pickled red cabbage and a green tart tahini dressing on the side. Very, very tasty. Tho be warned - if you don’t like your meals drowned in tahini, perhaps best to request this on the side.

Really excellent tea! I got the enchanted green tea. They don’t leave the tea bag to languish in your cup, but steep it for you, and then give you your tea!

The cookies were great texture-wise, and had lots of chocolate chips. I couldn’t tell if there was more brown sugar than I’m used to, or if they don’t use butter, or what it was, but there was something in the taste that wasn’t my fav. The texture was perfect though!

They have a great selection of spindrifts and Natalie’s juice and nuts and grain bowls and such.

Easily accessible.

Lots of seating.

I appreciated the board games too :-).

They use George Howell coffee (that’s what I used in my cafe back when I had my own). The tea I got looked like it said “Athens” was the brand, but I can’t find that brand online. It was a really unique, almost Smokey, but just grounded enough to be delicous green tea. I enjoyed it!

Long-time fans of the Clover format and focus on clean, local, veggie food. The Newtonville branch expands this with desserts and takeaway food, along with an espresso bar. Fairly crowded at lunch. Good natural light, open kitchen, use of the projector to show new drinks and specials. Try the impossible meatball!

I love Clover. Staff is great and food is delicious. Prices are reasonable. The seasonal specials are fun.

If we lived in the neighborhood we'd eat there a bunch of times a week.

Vegetarian options: It's all vegetables.

Dietary restrictions: The restaurant is set up to handle most dietary restrictions and the staff is knowledgeable.

Parking: Big lots behind, paid street parking in front.

Kid-friendliness: Many kids will like the standard menu but there are some kid-specific items.

The food I received for the price I paid is an obscene joke. If the price was cut in half, I would be just disappointed instead of angry about it.Dune 2 was less disappointing.I suppose I deserve it for eating rabbit food instead of the rabbit. Thanks to the Bridgewater bowl I just got from these people, I will never attempt to eat vegetarian again.

Got a cortado from the George Howell part of Clover and it was excellent!! Their espresso is one of the best espressos I've ever tasted.

Oof not a great experience today. I use to work at this location as the barista and the food was terrific had to hold back and only eat it once a week. I’ve only been back two or three times since then but it seems like the quality has taken a nosedive. I order the bridgewater which I have fond memories of. Today was hands down the worst sandwich I’ve ever had anywhere. The mushrooms were really mushy there was one onion in the onion and kale which was not prepared correctly and completely lacked the honey sriracha, on top of that instead of the cream cheese spread they just loaded it up with an obnoxiously gross amount of mayonnaise there was literally a huge goop of maya at the bottom of the pita. In addition the fries were overcooked cold and there was a small handful (in the past they would load you up). Honestly glad I’ve only been back a few times and not wasted more money here. They need to get back to the standard Kevin set.

The last two times I got takeout from Clover in Newtonville, the portions were noticeably much smaller than in the past. The second time I was curious enough about it that I brought the sandwich and fries home, weighed them, and compared the results to the advertised serving sizes in their app. The sandwich was 9% short, and the fries were *** 31% short ***.I emailed Clover twice and asked what was going on. I know they received my emails because I got back auto-responses telling me they had received them and would respond in 5-7 days. They never responded either time.I suspect that they are cutting portion sizes as a cost-cutting move (they are in chapter 11 bankruptcy right now). It's deceptive to be advertising serving sizes that are significantly larger than reality. It's kind of rude to reduce serving sizes without being proactively transparent about it; Clover certainly wouldn't be the first company to do that, but it does seem to go against their claimed culture. And it's _really_ rude not to respond to customer emails asking why their serving sizes seem much smaller.
