Previous Japanese owner gave free teas (O-cha) as a Japanese custom. New owner, assume Chinese, charged as their custom. FYI, green tea is very cheap. Cafe Mamie, Tampons still serve tea at no charge.
Food is always fantastic!
Both entree and appetizer are very small portion and pricy. The restaurant is very small and packed. When the door from the street opens it gets windy and cold if you sit at the bar.
Big disappointment! Planned to eat here for a special occasion after reading good reviews about welcoming, friendly staff and excellent food. Menu online looked appealing. Arrived around 3pm on a Wednesday. Many open tables and two servers. We liked the modern decor. Our server-who seemed rushed-was not the least bit friendly. My friends green tea burned his mouth and was too hot to drink for most of his meal. His Udon Noodles with Shrimp tempura had a nice tasting broth but was also too hot to eat for a while. My Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura was bland. It had no flavor. the sauce that came with it did nothing to improve the flavor. There was a lot more tempura than shrimp or vegetables. After asking for soy sauce -a few times- I tried adding that to no avail. it was just unappetizing. And expensive. We were charged for rice that was supposed to be included... Bummer!
I loved this place and would definitely go again. As a teen it was very nice waiters and staff
Delicious food. Should be busier.
Seems to be under new management. We used to be welcomed here by the kind manager and staff but no longer. Not the same Daikanyama in terms of food quality and service we previously enjoyed. Sushi was edible but not fresh. Almost empty restaurant for dinner when this place used to be bustling nightly. No water refills unless you wave down a waiter. Was asked to leave one minute after closing time. Will no longer come here. Unsatisfactory dining experience.
The best authentic Japanese cuisine west of Boston. Excellent ambience, fast service, reliable and consistent quality. The taste and presentation matches the best of NYC without going over the top in price.

It's a nice japanese restaurant. The Chirashi was very good, the vegetable tempura not so (they probably don't have a tempura chef). The crew is friendly and easy to park (the restaurant is located in a shopping mall but it's accessible from the street). Plenty of parking spaces.

Solid spot to satisfy sushi cravings. Is it the best sushi ever? No. But, Daikanyama consistently serves high quality sushi, as well as staple Japanese entrees at a relatively reasonable price. It is our go-to sushi spot in the neighborhood.

Excellent sushi, service was good but could have been a little more friendly. First time there, I'll be going back.

Oyaku was delicious. Prices very fair. Ginger ice cream was much better than expected.
