The mussels we ordered are not fresh at all. Some of them stink. They should really monitor the quality of their food. When we ask for check, we mentioned this to the waiter and he just smiled and didn’t even ask more.

First time I’ve ever written a review but I was inspired to based off my experience at MIDA Newton last evening. First time there. Atmosphere when you walk in is welcoming and very appealing. Immediately greeted by attentive staff with smiles. We were seated for our reservation right away. The wait staff was knowledge, attentive and had wonderful personalities. Drinks were spot on. The menu looked amazing so we couldn’t decide what to order so we decided to order different dishes for the table so all 5 of us could taste everything we wanted. Definitely the way to go!!!! And they did NOT disappoint. The ceasar salad was fresh and light, the pesto baratta was exceptional and not to be missed. The gnocchi was sublime-I make homemade gnocchi often and mine can’t compare. Just delish. The pork belly lasagna and the shrimp carbonara are a definite must. And the focaccia bread???? Amazing! The tiramisu is a must-I have a texture thing and don’t like soggy things so I won’t eat tiramisu. I can’t wait to eat this again. It was perfection, and not soggy at all. Just delicious. With drinks, apps, entrees, dessert and over 20% tip we each spent $80. For all that food and plenty of leftovers! I can’t wait to return. I strongly suggest you order and share so you can experience as many tasteful bites as possible!

I recently brought some friends to MIDA Newton for the first time, and it was an unforgettable experience! Our server, Guillermo, was an absolute gem—friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic as he walked us through the menu, sharing his favorite dishes and highlighting the evening’s specials. We ordered two pizzas, the Caesar salad, arancini, burrata, and for dessert, the chocolate gelato and raspberry sorbet, and every bite was absolutely delicious. The warm, inviting atmosphere of the Newton location was perfect, and we loved the open view of the spotless kitchen, which the staff kept pristine even at the end of a busy night. Everyone we encountered was delightful, and we couldn’t stop raving about the food, service, and overall experience. We can’t wait to return!

This restaurant. Have been here many times. I have ordered the Mista salad and a Blanca pizza have always enjoyed them. This last visit both were not nearly as good as prior times. The salad was doused in dressing. But what was worse about the salad is that the pistachio nuts some more large but many were crushed so finally it was as if I was eating sand in my salad. The Blanca pizza was just really tasteless. The waiter was excellent. He was efficient. He was kind and professional. The atmosphere is wonderful and overall ambience worth going back again.

We started at the bar since we arrived 20 minutes before our reservation and it was a busy Saturday night. The environment was intimate but well lighted, music but not too loud, and busy but not overwhelming, just well balanced. The bartender (I wish I caught his name) was very knowledgeable about drinks: he offered me an amazing red wine & for my boyfriend, a special cognac thats not advertised like most "luxury brands" dont do. He turned it into a delicious sidecar. One word about the food: YES! We started off with the arancini and calamari+clam strips, both really good. They served complimentary bread & olive oil - I think there's room for improvement there (season the olive oil or add cheese on the side, something is missing). My boyfriend got the short rib lasagna which had no shortage of short rib (he also got a taste of basil in there which he commented he wished there was another 1-2 basil leaves throughout) & I got the roasted chicken with mushroom risotto. The chicken was cooked to perfection - crispy skin cooked through but still moist, and the risotto was soo good! They kept refilling our waters through the night (which they can slow down a little bit on as it was at times disruptive to our conversation but I did appreciate the attentiveness). The chocolate skillet + icecream for dessert- chef’s kiss. Everything came out in such a timely and orderly fashion and the total cost had our jaw dropped especially considering we were in Newton, very reasonably priced. The kitchen stayed calm and managed with the dinner rush which leads me to the cherry on top: Felipe ! I believe he was the manager on shift: everything was running smoothly, he checked on the patrons, and came by with complimentary limoncellos for my boyfriend and me, described it to us, and let us enjoy it. Overall, everything was 10/10 *and its black owned*!

MIDA is our number one go to in the ‘burbs. It’s consistently great food and service, strong Italian wine list, homemade pizza and pasta are hits, but the apps are my favorite - we never skip the warm olives and arancini. I can take my kids here for an early meal and the staff and food are great for them, but it’s equally buzzy and fun for adult only drinks or dinner. Definitely make a reservation - it’s always busy!
