It has been 10 years this month since I have been to O'Hara's after being a frequent diner there for years. I enjoyed the place and frequented the place weekly and played on the softball team for years. I went there one July evening for dinner with the misses and ordered a meal, telling them I am allergic to asparagus. As a frequent diner, the place knew me well and was aware of my allergy. I was served a dish with asparagus tops sprinkled on the top of the meal. When I notified the waitress (new), she took my plate back to the kitchen and scrapped off the asparagus seeds and re-served it instead of replacing the dish completely. I soon went into anaphylactic shock and went outside to get some air. My wife paid the $65 check, and I was taken directly to Newton Wellesley Hospital. I have never been back since, never got the $65 reimbursed to us or offered and never got a phone call as to how I was doing. I think that letting people know that food allergies are something some people must deal with. I always made them aware and never knew that a new waitress could just do the wrong thing and severely compromise someone’s health.
Shepherd's pie was delicious! Really hit the spot of some good old comfort food.
Great service and lots of drink options. Overall a fantastic neighborhood spot.
Bubbly atmosphere and great service. Cocktails and beers were wonderful. The only thing that brings us down is the food which was mediocre and uninspiring.
Best shepherds pie ever!
Good chile!
Best shepherds pie!
We discovered O'Hara's 9 years ago and have been regulars since....at least from a NYS point of view. Everyone is warm and welcoming, food is fantastic and plentiful and Carl always asks about my health issues. We never come to Boston without getting a meal at out favorite Newton restaurant.
Great food. Space was a bit tight and hard to find parking. Overall great experience.

The service was great, and the food and vibe were also good but I was so put off by the relentlessness Vote No on 5 propaganda at our table, around the restaurant and all over our bill that I won’t be back to this restaurant. Maybe if the owners spent all that money on their employees instead of trying to sway their patrons by claiming to speak for the staff, we wouldn’t be in this situation. I was visiting my home state, and can’t vote there, but I will be sure to let all of my family and friends know how heavy handed the opposition is being. It’s like a captive audience in a union busting company. Gross.

These words from the theme song of "Cheers" best describe's the experience at Ohara's
Sometimes you wanna go
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
You wanna be where you can see
Our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows your name
