One of the best hot chocolates I've had in the area (not too sweet either) and great tasting mochi donuts.

This tiny small store in Newton Centre serves up several variations of what is now my favorite dessert - mochi donuts. As I was never a big fan of (overly) sweet delights, I've never bothered to try them despite hearing about it until recently at an event. I was truly surprised as I didn't just take a bite BUT finished the whole thing in less than a minute (once again, a pretty big feat for someone who doesn't prefer sweet treats). It wasn't overly sweet like normal donuts and the texture is far more delightful and chewy as much as it was moist. The flavors were potent and quite addicting. I know I will now be visiting quite a bit as the price is also really decent for what you get.Wishing you the best for the rest of the year and an even better 2024! Cheers!

I came across Pon de Joy at a recent Yelp Elite event so, as a true #nextlevel Yelp Elite, I repaid the favor by visiting and patronizing their establishment on my own dime. Because I'm not one of *those* amateur "Elites" who lives off Yelp freebies while not patronizing the sponsoring establishments and writing a bare minimum of reviews. Pon de Joy's Newton Centre location is nicely sun-lit thanks to large windows that let in the afternoon sun. There are a dozen flavors of mochi donuts that not only look attractive but also go down nicely, thanks not only to flavorful, natural-tasting, not-excessively-sweet frosting but also sutbly crisp exteriors and sufficiently chewy, dense, yet fluffy insides. At $3.95 each, pricing isn't cheap, but reflects the craftsmanship and quality in these treats. All in all, an excellent local business worth patronizing, whether or not you're "Elite."

Chewy, delicious heaven. A taste of Asian baked goods right here in Boston. Donuts are soft, fluffy and chewy.

Great place. Small, simple setup but a good vibe. Super friendly and helpful staff. Dog friendly. The donuts are delicious. I find myself thinking about these donuts often, and I've never been one to think about donuts or any other kind of sweets.

I am hopelessly addicted to this place. I've been here 4 times in one week, it's a problem. The cereal donuts are my favorite, corn flakes and fruity pebbles, because it's a remarkable textural experience. The black sesame has the best flavor. Friendly service. The donuts are expensive but worth it. Only comment is that while their bubble tea is good, it weirdly comes out hot on the bottom, something I haven't seen before (and I got it twice, thinking the first time was a fluke, this stopped me from getting it again).Having decided that mochi donuts are my thing, I stopped by Mochi Dough on Newbury St, and let me tell you, those were thin, dry, not worth it, and more expensive. Pon de Joy all the way!!!!!!

We tried a cinnamon sugar donut and it was so sweet, chewy and wonderful! Good quality donut batter too. I definitely want to come back to try the bubble tea at some point and try more donut flavors! So happy to have this nearby :)

It's the sort of place that makes you wish reviewing for six stars was an option.

Consistently good! The place is small, but inside is pretty breezy. Their milk tea can be a bit sweet, but their mochinuts are perfectly balanced. Good chew and good toppings. I really recommend getting the matcha mochinuts! The matcha flavor comes through without being overbearing.Compared to other places in Boston/Newton, their mochinuts are cheaper.
