There's not a lot to say, except this is a shining star in Wellfleet. A terrific menu cooked beautifully, a lovely front yard to eat in under gorgeous Cape sunsets...

Let’s start with the first problem the dog to the restaurant is hard to see and the actual building doesn’t even say the name on it so thank gif we knew the exact address … next the meals do not find with salad and costs $5 for bread …? Yes I said $5 for bread .. what a nerve… next all dinners come with choice of side and coleslaw and you can’t substitute the cold slaw even if you don’t like cole slaw then the best part was the steak that tasted like shoe rubber because was over cooked so brought me a new one and after getting around the unrendered fat tasted pretty good but i gif an 6 oz steak but at least 4 ounces were inedible because of the hard rock fat and the waitress knocked of $5 for that disgusting steak … this was our last meal for our 10 year anniversary weekend and every other meal we had in truro and wells fleet and provincetown were amazing then we came to this place it was unacceptable and I’m begging you not to waste your money

My wife and I were exploring the area and saw this restaurant on TripAdvisor. The menu looked good so we found the place (it’s easy to miss). It was immediately welcoming and cozy. The staff was attentive and quick. We ordered wine, which was reasonably priced and was brought to the table quickly. Our waiter was funny and we immediately got along well. We both ordered the swordfish, with cole slaw and French fries. The cole slaw had onions in it (the only negative of the meal), but was good once I picked them out. The fish and fries were hot, fresh, and delicious. We probably won’t ever go that far north on Cape Cod again, but if we do we will be sure to stop here again!

Amazing food, wonderful service, great atmosphere, fair prices. Excellent swordfish, gourmet quality steak, fine dessert, excellent bread- we forgive the $5 surcharge! We eat at many well-rated restaurants but this is definitely at the top of the list.

Nice place, cozy, and friendly. As far as the food... it's sort of a mixed bag. Some things on the menu are really great and others are a disappointment. Ask for details before ordering.

First time here on a last minute search for dinner. The Teriyaki chicken was very tender and flavorful. The prime rib was also excellent.

The food was very well prepared, but lacked any distinct flavor (a steak & fresh caught cod). The wait staff were very nice. This might be a good place to eat, but I would not recommend it for anything special.

The worst meal we've had in a long time. Had low expectations to begin with, but the food was beyond bad. Saturday evening at 7:30pm at the peak of the season on the Cape (late July); almost empty restaurant with only 2 tables with diners. Should've been a sign that says - run now. Ordered chicken wings and Caesar salad for appetizer. Server comes back in few mins to say they don't have chicken wings (???). Ordered chicken parm, shrimp scampi, bluefish special, and baked seafood. All pasta dishes where completely tasteless and had a lot of water in them; the cook didn't even bother to drain the pasta. No salt was added to anything. Chicken tasted horrendous. Bluefish had raw onions and melted cheese on top. Whoever is in the kitchen clearly does not care about what is being served. Horrible; stay away.

Traveling to the Cape every summer for the past 35+ years we tend to retreat back to some of our old haunts for a great meal. The Whitman house is all that and more. This 100 year old establishment has been serving dinners to visitors for decades. Antiques decorate the foyer and dining area. There is a treasure chest of prizes waiting for your child to unlock after their meal. Last night we had dinner in their Bass Tavern section. It was a quiet night and so the main dining room was closed. We were seated at a corner table and ordered cocktails. My Cosmo was perfect and my husband’s Makers mark and soda had quite a kick. Our appetizers of little neck clams were super fresh and the Portuguese oysters were very tasty. The grilled swordfish was perfectly grilled with a nice crusty edge. My blackened Striped Bass could not have been any fresher the seasoning was perfect and the Bass melted in your mouth. Our server was quite attentive but not overbearing. I highly recommend this place on your visit you won’t be disappointed. It might look a bit old school but as soon as you walk through the doors you realize it’s something you’ve needed for a long time. Something real.
