Hadn't been there since they moved off of Route one. Amazing sausage, selection, the mostly northern European style (no 'nduja, which I was hoping they'd have). Excellent Canadian bacon and, next time, will try their smoked pork chops. Prices reasonable.

Better sandwiches with more filling. Last two times I ordered sandwich to go, both times there was one slice of cheese and one slice of meat!!

Great place and worth the drive. The prices are a bit high but worth it.

Originally founded by Karl from Schlesswig Holstein, the store was on Rt one in Saugus. They expaned and moved the store to the current location. I have shopped there since the 1970s. It was an Oasis for fine Wurst and German Deli items. Karl was a supplier to Boston's best German restaurants; i.e. Locke Ober's. When Karl retired, I am sure it was his son who took over the business. Nothing changed for years. The business was sold about two years ago, and the quality continued. Many of the same staff were there; always incredibly helpful in terms of service and telling a customer about the food items. Very recently something has changed, and I am watching closely the quality of the food. Shelves are no longer filled. A lot of the timeless classic imported products are no longer there. The staff all seem new as of a visit today. Some training is necessary for sure. The deli case has the same items, but does not seem to be so well filled. You need to be very explicit in ordering. As I drove away I said a prayer that I am not watching the decline of Karl's.

Excellent german and polish food. It's the only one spot in the North Shore area. Great variety and friendly service.

I checked it out today for the very first time and I was totally overwhelmed at how disorganized this place was. The shelves are mostly a mish-mash of different stuff without a clear idea where anything is. There was a line but it was not clear where the line’s end was. There were a number of products that caught my eye but I didn’t buy anything since I didn’t see a cashier. It was very confusing. I would like to go back when someone from their establishment manages to explain the situation in the store. It’s really disappointing because we can use good European grocery stores in Massachusetts but they need to be organized and welcoming. Just imagine how much more profitable it can be but it’s not.

Happy to get some sausages and cheese you can not find in your regular grocery store. Love the liverwurst the white sausage, my recommendations is also for the blood sausage, delicious with boil potatoes and apples

The in-house meats are very good. However, the inside of the store is in shambles. Unrelated items in every aisle.Drop it where's there's room. I'm disappointed to see it go down like this.

Excellent assortment of house-made sausages, European cheeses, imported delicacies, and holiday decorations. Almost an hour from our home, but worth the trip!

I went to Karl's but didn't find the man behind the counter to be very friendly or helpful. I bought something from the freezer and when I asked another employee how best to cook them, she replied "they're already fully cooked," which, again, lacks basic helpfulness, so I left, came home and ordered Oscar Meyer over Amazon! I would have loved it if Karl's offered basic good manners, but, since not, I won't be going back ...

First off! Several people prior to me complained about the pricing. They are dead wrong! The prices are very reasonable. The service was perfect thanks to Bob he explained all the different types of sausage. I drove an hour and a half to check out this store and I will definitely be back thanks again.
