Sometimes the buffet seems like the main dishes are watered down but overall very good. I've been ordering the chicken mussallam lately and that's my new favorite for takeout. I like ordering it hot (mild, medium, hot) but be careful hot means hot!Parking: In the middle of a hallways in a little mall so parking is not as easy as their old location

This place is absolutely delicious and from taste and food quality in my opinion remains the best spot in Pittsfield.

The service was beyond five star; they anticipated our needs and even those of our grumpy kids! They went far beyond even good service. The food was SO good!!!Vegetarian options: Very large vegetarian section.Dietary restrictions: They were both knowledgeable and accommodating. Dairy-free options here exceed any other Indian restaurant I’ve been to. It started with lots of dairy-free options AND they basically offered to customize or make anything to order for me.

I really enjoy the food here. There has been a few times where it could have been better, but even then, it's still better then some of the other local restaurants. Will keep returning.

This is a bold claim but this place has the BEST garlic naan I've tried in like 25 years of eating Indian food. It's has large pieces of garlic actually baked into the bread, not just like dusted on top like most places. Apologies for not posting a pic but I thought of that after I ate the whole order. If you like garlic, get your butt over and try it. I promise you will be impressed. The food was also very good. Not too salty and I was impressed that they use very little oil. The owner asked us about the spice level so it can vary if someone doesn't like spicy food. I go for "medium". I live 3 hours away but the next time I'm in the area I'm coming in for some Chana Saag and two orders of the garlic naan. It's been a month since I went and I'm still thinking about it!

Horrible disgusting food. Got a hair in rice and flies around the food. Avoid this place if you dont want to get sick.

The food at House of India is "Indian" in inspiration only. The ingredients are sparse, missing key components anyone would expect in Tandoori cuisine, and the resulting flavors are bland and the sauces watery. Instead of traditional ingredients, there are some odd replacements that further push these dishes away from a reasonable definition of what "Indian food" is supposed to be. Unfortunately, many ingredients also seem to be at the poorer quality end of the spectrum at this restaurant. Some details by example....1. Chicken Tikka Masala: The chicken, while tender, has none of the signature flavors of the tandoor. The sauce is likewise a departure from tradition -- Where is the yogurt base? Where is the cumin? Where are the tumeric and ginger? Where is the garam masala? If these ingredients are present at all, they are well below the level of being able to taste them. The sauce seems 90% water, 9% tomato sauce, and 1% chili. The chicken was certainly marinated, but it was not cooked in a tandoor oven or even grilled, and has none of expected caramelized/charcoal surface.2. Lamb Biryani: Very tough meat in a watery and flavorless "curry" soup, likewise missing all of the key ingredients and flavors one would expect in biryani -- most notably the saffron -- and perhaps worst of all of what little was there was just mixed together at the last minute rather than cooked over time into a unified dish. And, for some very odd reason, large chunks of yellow and green pepper were included...which weren't expected, and weren't very complimentary to the food. Finally, to add a bit of insult to the injury of this unfortunate experience, ***the prices are extremely high,*** even though each dish does not include its own portion of rice. The Lamb Biryani, for example, was $19...and really not worth half of that amount. And then, to make things a bit worse, House of India will add an additional 3% if you use a credit card (without always clearly notifying customers ahead of time). And I won't even comment on the service, because there really is none. Any passion for helping and pleasing customers was abandoned by this establishment long ago.Frankly, House of India really deserves just one star, except for two bright spots: the mango lassi is actually pretty good (they remembered to put some yogurt in that at least), and the palak paneer has some nice flavors in it -- the usual ingredients were included this time. Again, finding these two exceptions might rescue an extremely overpriced meal from being an epic fail...but it will still come awfully close.

I'm updating my review from 4 stars to 5 after having eaten here regularly for three years now. The food is phenomenal and the people are courteous and responsive. House of India has become our go-to place for Indian food in this area.

Delicious indian food and love the option for vegetarians on the menu. The waiter was awesome and quick with service. Mango Chicken and Mango Lassi both were delicious. Thank you so much!

We had dinner and ordered goat kadai + gobi alu. Very mediocre food. They gave us complimentary gulab jamuns which were soggy… so eat at your own risk.Parking: Well other than parking nothing else worth mentioning.
