We had a great experience at Shelly’s Tea Room for my mom’s surprise party. Shelly was very kind, easy to work with, and great with communication throughout the process. She was accommodating and understanding, especially when bad weather affected our plans.
It’s a lovely, family-owned tea room with a welcoming atmosphere, and everything went smoothly. We really appreciated Shelly’s flexibility and help, and would definitely recommend this spot for a special gathering.
What a great time we had! Everything was delicious and it was a delightful afternoon. We can't wait until the next time we get to go!
Originally from England, I have never found a true British cream tea in New England until Shelley’s. I send EVERYONE there. It’s just wonderful start to finish. The owners are so lovely and British. All of the treats and sandwiches and scones are authentic. Such a fabulous outing! ‘The Windsor’ definitely takes two hours and it’s a true joy of an experience.
We did the Windsor set that included a starting tea, your choice of tea after, finger sandwiches, then desserts and scones!
The sandwiches were fun to eat and the scones were delicious! The staff were very nice and attentive even when it was busy.
I recommend making reservation in advance.
My partner and I have been meaning to go to Shelly's Tea Room since they opened but only today got around to it... absolutely wonderful! We got the Windsor afternoon tea, and the cheese and piccalilli sandwich was our favorite but everything tasted so good. I even picked up a couple gifts from their little shop. We'll definitely be back. Thank you!
My husband and I enjoyed our visit to Shelly’s Tea Room. The tea was fabulous and the Scones with clotted cheese was oh so good!
Absolutely lovely!
Truly superb experience! They were helpful, kind, and generous with the servings. Tea was great. Baked goods were great. Especially the scones, they were stelar!
I absolutely recommend them. I will go again.
Lovely scones and plenty of loose tea options. I loved the clotted cream
Absolutely fantastic. Lovely tea. Wonderful sandwiches. Super cute aesthetic. Very nostalgic vibe.

I've been to Shelly's quite a few times over the last three years. As nice as Shelly and her family are, there are a few things that continue to give me a bit of the ick each time I visit:
1. By far, the dog, Buddy. While a lovely animal, a large furry dog in the middle of a restaurant doesn't sit right. And on my last visit I found dog hair in a sandwich and in a dessert. I couldn't.
2. Dirty dishes: On most occasions I've found cups and utensils with leftover food or tea residue, champagne glasses with a lip imprint from the drinker before me, etc.
3. The grimy layer: there just seems to be this kind of grime to the place, akin to a Waffle House or 24 hour diner that never gets a proper scrubbing. The chair fabric is worn and a bit dirty, tablecloths seems to need a good washing, carpet could be replaced with wood floor to help with the smell and spills.
I say all this in hopes that some of this will be remedied because, regardless of the ick, I will continue to go from time to time as it's a nice way to spend an afternoon, the tea selection and scones are devine, and the clotted cream is wonderful.
I had a wonderful experience at Shelly's tea room! I felt like I was in a dream with all the options to have Gluten free and Dairy free food! It was a treat! Highly recommend 😊
So pleased with our experience! We had the Gluten Free Windsor tea, we had Apricot tea and the Cranberry Autumn tea - highly recommend both they were delicious. All of the tea sandwiches we tried were very tasty especially liked the cucumber it was nice and light. We enjoyed the scones immensely, they were such a treat and were the best gf scones I have ever had! They were fluffy and moist not dry at all. I would definitely try the clotted cream and jam on your scone it is divine. I can honestly say that it was worth every penny! We didn’t make a reservation but I would definitely recommend if you are coming on a weekend or busier time of the year. The owners were so nice and took good care of us, you can tell they have worked so hard to make it a wonderful place to indulge! 10/10 recommend and we will be back!
very inviting atmosphere with the tastes from home. This place is a must for everyone to visit. Go say hello to Buddy the official greeter🐾♥️
My partner planned to come here for a surprise brunch for my birthday - even called them to ask if he would need reservations for the exact date he was visiting. They told him no, that the day we’d be there is usually slow enough to not require one. We arrived there only to discover that they’re closed for a few weeks for holiday. There’s no updates on their website stating they’d be closed, and they neglected to inform my partner on the phone that they’d be closed on the day he was inquiring about. Google also still states they’re open for business.
My advice to anyone planning to visit would be to call and speak to someone the day of to make sure they’ll be open, and for the business to be better at updating when they’ll be closed.
