I wish a took more pictures! We were having so much fun, I forgot to take them! Great afternoon having tea and little sandwiches, try the scones they’d were delicious !We were all full by the time we left. Keep in mind, there is no parking, just on the street. Make reservations, we got lucky because there was a cancelation. The service is wonderful, they were just so nice! I can’t wait to go back for my afternoon tea??? I guess they are already booked for Mother’s Day?? Cheers ????????

It's a lovely spot in downtown Plymouth. We stopped in on a whim today. A large assortment of teas, sandwiches, and desserts for order. We ordered the English breakfast tea along with a classic scone with clotted cream and the chocolate sponge cake. All were excellent.Shelly's also has a large selection of teas and tea accessories available for purchase. They also sell frozen "bake and serve" scones. This place is a true English tea room. Along with all these trappings, a sweet golden retriever reigns over the room.We will definitely definitely be back!!!!

Shelly’s tea room is much fun and such a unique experience! The scones are to die for, the finger sandwiches are delicious, and the variety of snacks and sweets are fantastic. They have a vast library of teas to choose from; So many that would make even the traditionally non-tea drinker would enjoy a cup! I go every year on my birthday and try to snag a spot for mother’s day (although you gotta book early! By March I was already out of luck for a mother’s day outing). If you haven’t tried this place, it’s well worth the visit. Come hungry!

Shelly’s was the closest thing to a true UK t shop I’ve found since I left. Shelly herself served us, in an adorable spotted a line dress with petticoats no less, in her charming way and with her fluffy petticoat ruffling. We were also greated by a beautiful golden retriever Buddy and his giant stuffed carrot. The table was beautiful with white tablecloth and view of the red British phone booth outside, and soon our teas arrived ( so many options you will find it hard to decide) We had high caff earl grey and spicy masala chai, and my daughter had a lovely orange and hibiscus noted “cotton candy” tea, all served In beautiful ornate pink and red ornate tea pots. We ordered marmalade and raisin scones with clotted cream and strawberry and black current jam. Which was actual heaven and kept us going all the way to our hotel jn Danvers. If you’re in Plymouth, do not miss.Kid-friendliness: Shelly was lovely to Piper and gave her a free chocholate chip scone on the way out

I had a great tea room experience here. The room full of tea smell. They have many tea options for tea lovers. I ordered a rose tea and a raisin scone. They were both good and overpassed my expectations. I would recommend party making a reservation on weekends before you visit here.

Absolutely loved it! Everything was fresh. The tea was delicious! And the family who runs it including the pup are just great fun. I will definitely be going again.

Amazing little tea place. The tea and scones and finger sandwiches were all delicious. There was nothing bad here. I cannot wait to go back and try more of the teas, because there were so many to choose from!

This might sound harsh, but as a business owner myself, I believe we sometimes need a little poke to refresh things when they start to go stale. Here, the owner aims for a pretentious ambiance, which will not sit well with patrons familiar with traditional tea rooms. The prohibition on sharing afternoon tea comes across more as a revenue tactic than a tribute to custom. Introducing a dash of personal warmth and creating a more humble atmosphere could significantly improve the experience. Moreover, the ambiance could benefit from smelling less like a pet and more like freshly baked scones. While this venue might attract Downton Abbey fans, it falls short for those seeking an authentic tea room experience.

We recently started coming here and have already been back so many times! The tea here is the best! We stopped buying tea at supermarkets and are now getting it from here! I would definitely recommend the Blueberry Scone, Chocolate and Cappuccino cake. Buddy the dog may be the best part of the trip! He is so friendly and will come over to greet you!

I was really excited to try this place as they have won lots of awards, and maybe that's the problem. Instead of a cozy tea room with great food, this place feels cold and almost corporate. The staff weren't welcoming or friendly, again just cold.It definitely has a large selection of teas but if you don't drink tea or coffee you're out of luck. The scones were dry and flavorless. I was so embarrassed that I'd invitied people for tea and they had a bad experience.

Having just visited Great Britian this summer I was so excited to be able to have high tea locally. This was truly a gem and my parents and I loved the experience. We did not have a reservation (highly recommended as space is limited) but the owner was happy to tell us she had just had a cancellation and promptly seated us. We opted for two Windsors and a Cream Tea (first had mulled tea along with your choice of pot of tea, various tea sandwiches of the day (cheese, cucumber, egg and ham & cheese) 2 scones and some petite desserts). We greatly enjoyed it all. The scones had a crunchy exterior but soft on the inside. We chose lemon (light lemon taste) and blueberry. They came with clotted cream, jam and butter. We had Victorian sponge cake, custard tarts and another almost bread pudding like dessert. All were lovely. Overall it was a unique experience that we greatly enjoyed. It was packed almost the whole visit (noon-1:30) and I would suggest keeping to a smaller party and making a reservation if you don’t want to wait. It’s not fast food and the expectation is to have a unrushed experience. Highly recommend!!

Shelly's Tea Rooms was a magical and lovely experience. My sister and I went for afternoon tea to celebrate her recently becoming a mom. Everything was perfect. The food was delicious - especially the sticky toffee pudding and the two teas I tried were amazing. They were also really flexible and accommodating to vegetarian diets. I will definitely be returning!
