If you can get a spot at the bar , DO IT. The bartenders are great And the food will come out super fast. But... when you sit at a table they are so terribly understaffed that the service is horrible. 45 minutes for an appetizer And it came out burnt to a crisp. Didn't even bother ordering dinner because we didn't have all night.
Guys-- you REALLY need to hire more people to handle the crowd that comes in. This sadly isn't the first time in the last couple months we've had this happen , either.

This has been consistently my favorite burger in the Boston area. The staff is great and the Hancock is a great place to catch a game. Try the fried pickle burger or if you enjoy some spice...go for the buffalo burger.

Stopped by about 11:15pm to try to have a couple beers and grab one of the bar pizzas. I guess the kitchen was open till 12 admitted by the bartender, she had to argue with the cook to even put the order in as he was drinking at the end of the bar and didn't want to do it. I was disgusted with the back and forth said forget about it and walked across the street to the Chinese food place.
Owner may want to look at the sale logs after 11pm the cook could be costing you big $$.

Enormous plates of absolutely delicious pub food (a perfectly cooked burger that was so huge I could finish; the "best rebel I've ever had," my sister said). Efficient service in spite of the crowd. Almost too noisy for conversation.

My daughter went out with friends tonight for her birthday and not only had terrible service by their waitress but then a friend of hers who paid the bill was asked to speak privately and was told he didnāt tip enough. Feeling pressured he then gave more money. OUTRAGEOUS! I canāt believe how unprofessional and inappropriate that waitress was. What an awful way to treat a group of young people just trying to a have a fun night out celebrating a birthday.
Blonde waitress was incredibly rude and forgot drinks and food multiple times. After one of the members of our party pulled her aside to pay the bill before anyone else, she came back and grabbed him because āhe didnāt tip her enoughā. He was less than 5 dollars away from 20% which she didnāt deserve anyways because her service was barely good. Her behavior was wildly inappropriate the entire time but asking for more money after is truly insane. Really disappointed and wonāt be returning anytime soon.

Great service, terrible food or should I say the grilled chicken and broccoli, no seasoning at all. I asked server about season and she said that they don't season their grilled chicken, brought me some Cajun seasoning to add but I couldn't eat food with no taste, politely gave it back.
Dietary restrictions: If you're on a strict diet and can't eat seasoned food, this is the right place.

My hubby and I have been visiting the Tavern for years. We typically get take out as the atmosphere can sometimes be sketchy when eating in. For example tonight when we went there there was a lady sitting at the bar drinking beers with a baby in a baby carriage next to her. Not sure of any bar that would allow that as itās wrong on so many levels. As most reviews mentioned the service is not so good inside as there is always only one server working and they are very short staffed. The food used to be exceptional but has definitely gone down in the past year.
Anyway tonight we both had entrees. With all entrees you get two sides. When we got the bill both entrees were $2 more than what was listed on the menu. When we asked the server she said I think there is an additional charge for side salads let me check. We said that was not listed on the menu and she grabbed a menu and all looked at it and she said āhuh, let me go askā. She came back and said that her and the bartender didnāt know how to credit so Iād have to contact the manager. When we got home I sent an email with a picture of the receipt.
The manager responded very unprofessionally from the start. He said there was an upcharge for side salads with a partial screenshot of the menu. I explained I didnāt see it listed and he said ādid you not look at the menuā. I said I had looked at the menu more times than I could count and never saw anything. I said the waitress looked over the menu with us and she did not see anything either. He the proceeded to circle the screenshot and send it back.
Under sandwiches there is an asterisk stating to āADDā sweet potato fries, tater tots or side salads there is a $2 fee. I explained we didnāt āaddā anything we choose it as one of our two sides. I sent him a screen shot of the listed sides and he continued to argue with me. I then explained if there is an up charge for āpremium typeā sides it should be listed under the sides with the entrees like all other restaurants. If you look at the my screen shot of HIS menu it looks as though side salads are included as a regular side. He continued to be unprofessional and down right rude so I stopped responding.
Itās not about the money itās about the principle. Iām so tired of restaurants overcharging and making excuses. Iām done with the āsmall businessā trying to survive. I own a small business myself so I am well aware of the rising cost of doing business. As a small business owner I go out of my way to TRY to support other small businesses but owners like this make it impossible for us to support.
