Idle Hour in Quincy is one of those rare gems that nails it in all the ways that matter – great food, incredible drinks, and a little attitude (courtesy of the owner, who’s got the lovable jerk thing down to an art – love you, Matt). This place is scratch-made all the way, where each dish satisfies every corner of your soul, whether it's a classic or a new twist on an old favorite.
I’ve never left as a hungry or unsatisfied vegetarian. The staples: deviled eggs (a work of art); crispy brussels sprouts that will leave grumpy children asking for more. They change up the menu a few times, and whatever they’ve been testing with exits the menu with an ovation. I haven’t been to their brunch as often as I wished I had – best darn shakshuka in the state. Yes Matt, your shakshuka is the shit.
What else makes the place? The incredible bartenders - Zack, Jose and Erin – always welcoming, funny, and fast with a drink. This is the kind of place where everyone really does know your name (whether you like it or not), and it’s got an energy you just can’t find in Quincy.
From the vibe and décor, selection of music, even the charismatic restrooms – you could tell every corner of this restaurant was crafted with thought, care and experience of their patrons. Even the name of the restaurant is a subtle nod to the favorite pastime of the owners grandmother.
With a heavy heart, I’m bummed to say goodbye to this amazing place, but I want to wish the entire crew nothing but the best. Idle Hour, you’ve earned every bit of love that comes your way. Quincy’s not going to be the same without you. Thanks to the amazing crew for all the laughs, great food, and good times and now tears. Here’s wishing you the best – cheers!

Idle Hour is a gem! The vibe is really cool, the cocktails are creative and there is always something on the menu that appeals to us. The menus are periodically refreshed so that we have something new to try that reflects the season, like the cocktail I had last night with bourbon and apple brandy - delicious and just right for October. Idle Hour is a strong rec, but don't go when I'm going because I want to make sure I get a table!
Great atmosphere and great owner providing knowledge of the various spirits and their originations.

Cool spot, I didn't order food because I'm picky. Drinks were good and the atmosphere is at a good level for conversation.
Not a bad place to bring a date.

Really enjoyed this place. Wasn't expecting to find a good breakfast/brunch restsurant so far from anywhere. Good food, good coffee and a pleasant welcoming atmosphere. Will return for more!
Parking: Street parking right in front.
Wheelchair accessibility: Couple of small stairs to get in/out. Need a low ramp.

This place is an absolute gem. The owner and his staff all genuinely care about the restaurant. Constantly reinventing the menu and soliciting customer feedback. Food and drinks are phenomenal. Will be back…many times.
Consistently good. Love the burger with egg. WAY better than Alba.

The experience was not bad- however my friend and I came in on Sunday and we ordered a decent amount of drinks - and the bartender had his friends come in and he was complimentary giving his friends free drinks and was ignoring us. My tip of advice was to pay attention to all of your clients the same. Free drinks are okay, but make all your clients feel the same way. You don’t need to give everyone free drinks but wake up dude!

The best possible experience! Went here based on Yelp reviews and was not disappointed AT ALL! The grilled broccoli was to die for! Grilled cornbread did not disappoint. At one point I dropped my napkin and quickly picked it up. Within 36 seconds Mat the owner came to bring me a brand new napkin without me asking! Sasha made a special drink for us a rum punch that was not even on the menu. It was amazing. Will definitely be returning! A++++

Was here for about 5 minutes before the bartender came up with the most disrespectful attitude, even told me if I knew how to read a menu. What a joke.
Food was great. Loved the Summer Gnocchi ! Our server was efficient, flexible and accommodating. Parking is a bit of an issue, however. We parked at the Hancock Garage which is not far away but may be difficult for someone with mobility issues. This was a Wednesday at 7 pm and very few tables were full. I wonder what it's like on a Friday night.
