So excited to try this upscale restaurant in downtown Reading. The venue is gorgeous. Not a lot of tables, the bar is huge, 1/2 the restaurant. We arrived at 5:30 on a Saturday and the place is packed.
Food: I had Chilean Sea bass which was outstanding. $53. Added mashed potatoes for $12 and Post Salad for $12. All very delicious. My husband had a steak, $99, which was okay but he was not crazy about it.
Service: our waitress was great! Very helpful, super nice. She made the night very special.
Atmosphere: absolutely loved the decor. Surprised at how few tables there were. My only complaint was the noise. I literally had to scream for my partner to hear me. I know it was in a large part due to the large party of 15 next to me that made a lot of noise.
Value: This is a very expensive restaurant. I appreciate the great food service and decor but the noise and steak quality for the high cost will deter me from going for this type of experience again.
I will go back but have appetizers and sit in the bar. I think I would enjoy that more.

Great place! Pricey but worth it. Great service too.
Lamb chops app is amazing! Fried goat cheese and pears salad - the best I've ever had! I would go back just to get the salad!!!
Different from the Lexington location, this place is cozy, warm, elegant.

Went for Dine Out Menu. The Truffle Cauliflower was amazing! And the Chicken Parm was huge! Took most home. Great atmosphere in a former Post office

We were looking forward to having a delicious dinner at Post in reading, but unfortunately things went downhill quickly. I can say that having ordered the Tenderloin I would never expect to be served an End Cut. We complained to the Bar tender but he didnāt seem to care for our comment. So what I think the owner of this establishment should know is that a High End Steak House never ever serves an End Cut.

I don't do reviews...I just don't. However, I recently came to Post 1917 with a buddy to visit Chef Jason - an old friend - and see what he was up to. Had heard he opened a few really hot steak joints and was eager to check it out and catch up. Where to begin....
Top Notch in EVERY way doesn't do justice to this place. From the greeting at the door, to the perfect spot at the bar, to the personal escort from Chef Jason himself, this place has it dialed in. Not only was the food perfect, but the ambiance, the surrounding crowd of folks there (friendly as hell!) and the attentiveness from the entire staff was 2nd to none. Chef Jason is a hands on guy - checking in with guests constantly to ensure the food and experience are measuring up. I've been to 100's or restaurants over the last couple decades and can hardly say any of them came near checking all the boxes the way Post 1917 does. Best part? No reservation. A family run operation - Post 1917 is the REAL deal. Jason - Thanks goes out to you and the entire staff again for making it a memorable awesome time! Hope to see you again soon!

My wife and I went for Valentine's Day evening and booked one of their last dinner reservations, a 10pm reservation. We arrived 20mins early and for a reservations only spot there seamed to be a lot of people still waiting. We sat and waited in their small waiting area just outside the front door. One of the seats was up against a piece of glass that separated the waiting area from the restaurant, and there was an unfortunate couple dining right behind the glass that was disturbed as soon as we sat down. We were seated at about 10:10pm and were given their Prix Fixe menu which we already checked out ahead of time and knew what we wanted. We ordered drinks and then the waitress advised they were out of both of the desert options on the Prix Fixe menu (chocolate brownie and cheese cake) and only had key lime pie and fried ice cream. Which was disappointing and we realized quickly they over-booked the night. We put our order of everything in; the sea food tower ($90 up-charge), crab cakes, and salad for starters. Then the filet mignon and chicken parm for mains, then one of each available deserts. The crab cakes and salad were pretty good. But once the sea food tower arrived we were advised they ran out of oysters so they added more king crab legs and a lobster tail (which the tail never made it on). Had we wanted oysters this would have been owful as they waited until the dish arrived to tell us there wouldn't be any on there. But, this was actually a great surprise as my wife loves crab and wasn't too crazy about the oysters. When we got to the desert they advised that they only had fried ice cream and a butter cake left now so they brought one of each. To our surprise the fried ice cream wasn't actually fried but wasn't bad. After we finished up we were advised we had to leave before 12am as this was a rule, however as we walked out, there were still guests drinking at the bar. For an over $400 dinner, this restaurant hardly delivered a āfine dinningā experience.
Food was excellent except for the mashed potatoes (too much peppercorns and pepper seasoning in them) and no bread service
We got an early reservation (4pm), as that was all that was available. The ambience became much better toward the end of our meal, as the sun came down outside. I personally believe a place like this should have drapes/shades the entire time to keep a nice steakhouse feel. The prefix menu was nice for Valentine's Day and the cocktails were excellent. Each item tasted great and was cooked perfectly. The service was expectedly crazy given the holiday and being in the first wave of customers. Our waiter (Roberto?) was great, but there were some waits for the drinks. The rose for my wife at the end was a nice touch. I do like nice restaurants on non-holidays better, but this was a very nice experience.
The atmosphere and service was a 10 out of 10. We only had apps and drinks, both were excellent. The owners were present and attentive throughout the meal. Very homey feel. Will definitely be going back.

Drinks were great, although pricey ($46 for 2 martinis). Appetizer was nice, mains were mediocre at best. Mushroom risotto was hard and overly truffled. Filet was ordered medium rare, came out well done. When the waiter finally came by they took it back and replaced it, but there was barely anything more than a "Sorry". I wouldn't have expected the steak for free, but could have comped a drink or side for the inconvenience. Will not be back and would not recommend for the price.
As frequent guests at Post 1917 in Reading since they opened in 2024, it's safe to say that this delightful restaurant has become one of our favorite culinary destinations. Every visit feels like a special occasion, and we always look forward to our time there. From the moment we step through the door, we are warmly greeted by Jason and his incredible team. Their hospitality sets the tone for a delightful evening, making us feel like cherished guests rather than just customers. It's this attention to detail and personal touch that keeps us coming back time and again. The cocktail menu at Post 1917 is nothing short of impressive. On our most recent visit, we savored the Post Cosmos, which was perfectly balanced and refreshingly delicious. Each sip had us reminiscing about our favorite nights out, and it was a fantastic way to kick off our dining experience. Christian was instrumental in enhancing our meal with his wine recommendations. He listened attentively to our preferences/price point and expertly guided us to a bottle that paired beautifully with our dishes. It was a delight to discover a wine that not only complemented our meals but also highlighted our favorite tasting notes. As for the food, Post 1917 never disappoints. We started with the onion soup, which was expertly seasoned and had the perfect depth of flavor. It was rich and comforting, a true testament to the kitchen's skill. For our main courses, we indulged in the steaks, which were cooked to perfection. Each bite was a harmonious blend of tenderness and flavor that left us wanting more. To round off our evening, we had after-dinner cocktails which provided a delightful finish to our meal. In summary, our experiences at Post 1917 have consistently been remarkable. With the best food in the area and a staff that truly cares about the customer experience, we can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. If you haven't yet visited, you're missing out on something truly special!
Once again, we had an excellent meal with attentive service and a great ambience. The prices are steep, especially for the suburbs, but the quality is there. ļæ¼
I have been to Post 1917 more than 4 times now and have always had an amazing experience. I have Celiac and was so happy to learn that 90%+ of their menu is gluten free. They take extra care with allergies and this was so nice not to have to wonder if I am going to be sick after a meal because of cross contamination. I have also visited with friends that are dairy free and they also had no issues! We have indulged in the oysters and they are by far the best around - every time. We typically tend to go to higher end restaurants and Post is definitely one of our faves! Steaks are always cooked perfectly, drinks are VERY well made and they have delicious mocktails too (which can be hard to find) and the atmosphere is fun & trendy. Great for a date night, night out with friends or celebration. We love to sit at the bar as well, plenty of seating. Highly recommend.
I have been to Post several times since you opened in Reading. This night was far different ( 12/4/25). My friend ordered the Shrimp entree after her salad and shared app. The shrimp dish was so spicy hot that it wasn't edible. I tasted it, love spice but this was way beyond edible. The older waiter came by and I told him my friend could not eat it but she didn't want to make a fuss. He didn't say a word and walked away. Said nothing. He was not pleasant, no talk, nothing!I should have pushed harder. We both left feeling so disappointed. Her first trip to POST. Only ate her salad. I was so embarrassed and insisted she not pay for it, however she did! We need to figure out how to reimburse her for a $35 meal that wasn't eaten. All around the waiter gets 2 stars and that is generous. Happy to provide any additional info.
