Arrived 5 mins before reservation but couldn't be seated "because kitchen was not open yet...however when the hostess got us in the lounge and seated us in dining room eventually, a table of four already had food on the table. (That table and ours were the only diners). Charcuterie board looked like and tasted like it was from the grocery store. Clam chowder was tasteless and gritty. Onion soup was too salty. That said we had a great breakfast there...great service with coffee servers and a nice variety on the breakfast buffet. All a.m. servers we bright and welcoming. Not so much on the evening servers.

Lovely, somewhat secluded place to have a drink away from the more touristy hubbub of Rockport’s town center. Very fair drink prices. I can’t comment on the food because we did not eat. Part of the reason we did not order food is because one of us was vegan and they had only one vegan option.

We had dinner on the veranda. It overlooks the water, I can't imagine a better place to be on a warm summer night.
Had the clam chowder and the seafood casserole, both very good and the triple chocolate cake for desert which was terrific.

You can't ask for a better view, especially if you get a table on a porch. It is lovely and peaceful with a vast ocean view. I enjoyed the pigeon cove chowder and duck confit. The triple chocolate cake was very good. There is a parking lot for guests in the back, so parking is not a problem.

The Emerson Inn is a quaint hotel with the most kind of people working there. From the moment you walk through the doors you feel the immediate welcome and are instantly at peace. The Parlor Bar is a wonderful treat with delicious drinks and food. With all that being said, I feel that what makes the Emeson such an amazing place is everyone that works there. They make you feel at home, they are kind and accommodating!

Huge disappointment. Room not cleaned. No food available. Not managed properly. Going downhill fast. In addition, it’s a 100 year old 4 story wooden building. Lots of stairs. It has smoke detectors but no sprinkler system. I didn’t feel safe.
This is my third time here at the Inn. Always happy to be here. Amazing people, beautiful location, the experience of the sun rise and the moon rise over the Atlantic and the quiet - couldn't ask for anything else or anything more.
The inn is gracious and well maintained. The view of the rugged coastline is beautiful, The inn owners and staff were laid back and creative in helping us out of a few jams (transportation problems, etc.). The kids enjoyed the pool. The inn leaned romantic but not so much that families with children would feel out of place Five stars all around.

We enjoyed our stay at the Emerson Inn. The staff were kind, attentive and informative. The room was clean and bright! The oceanfront pool was lovely. We enjoyed the breakfast and really loved sitting on the porch facing the water enjoying our food and later a cocktail. The owner was great and gave good advice on where to eat in town. The center of Rockport is a couple minutes away with cute shops and restaurants. Gloucester harbor is also a short drive for more restaurants, wale watches, etc. Hope to be able to stay again soon!
The Emerson Inn was a restful getaway. Rooms are well kept and sparkling clean. Powerful yet quiet air conditioning. Pool, back porch, rocking chairs, and fantastic ocean setting were highlights. Staff pleasant and ready to be of help. Close to Bearskin Neck but far enough away from the many day trip tourists. Easy parking. Would suggest: 1. Improve breakfasts. The rooms are expensive and a hot breakfast with choices should be included. This is included with most other inns and B&Bs in Rockport. 2. Open bar area in late afternoon or early evening everyday if possible. There was nothing but water available for the guests from 11am on. We would have liked to sit in the piano room in the evening but this area was dark and made unwelcoming. 3. Keep the coffee and tea station clean and stocked. There were dirty cups left around. Coffee wasn’t fresh or hot. Usually places have small snacks available. Important as there was no lunch or dinner available. Definitely will return next summer if serving hearty breakfasts.
Everyone we encountered was so gracious. We enjoyed such a delicious breakfast of lovely baked goods, waffles w whipped cream and berries or yogurt parfaits. The views are to die for. Sitting on porch or green looking out at ocean. We snap in the large pool twice daily. Perfect showers, beds, duvet, pillows. Guests enjoyed comfortable conversations. Not pretentious.
The location is lovely, quiet and so very comfortable. Our room had a wonderful ocean view. We thoroughly enjoyed the large front porch with rockers as we finished our day in Rockport. The staff was helpful, pleasant and understanding. Highly recommend staying here. It was wonderful.
The staff at the Emerson Inn are so friendly, helpful, and professional. The breakfast has a very good selection of breakfast items both hot and cold and the coffee is very good. My room was very clean, appropriately decorated for an inn, with a very comfortable bed and pillows and a great view of the ocean. There is plenty of room on the veranda and lounge so you don’t ever feel crowded and they feel welcoming and relaxing with wonderful views of the ocean. I brought my small dog and she loved staying at the Inn too. I highly recommend the Emerson Inn. It was my 2nd stay there and I’ll definitely stay there again.
