Excellent hot dogs. Great chili and chowder. Get there early for lunch or you'll be waiting in line!

This place has gone down the tubes, stay away 4 hot dogs (penny pincher 2 orders) $28.00 and they had no chips and stillCharge you full amount and wanted to charge $3.00 to substitute for the chips, a lobster roll was cheaper than the dogs. Very

Used to be a great place! Fun atmosphere. Delicious food. Now forget it! Supposedly they offer boiled or grilled dogs. Only problem is they grill them for about 20 seconds; no browning at all. I ask them to throw it back on & grill it well done. Instead they threw it out & grilled a new one. Again Not browned. Not done! Terrible! An old favorite down the drain. Oh and my histories it again today, still terrible. Not cooked! I don’t understand. Just beware.

After trying to eat here several times over 2 years (they were always closed) we finally found them open. It's true, they have a veggie hot dog, but it's no different than the Lightlife dogs I eat at home. I don't know why they're listed on HC

Great place. I definetly shouldve gotten a hot dog, however, their fishsticks were pretty bad. Too much fish and not enough breading.

The staff was very considerate. They informed me that my food would take longer than anticipated and offered me a free side as a consolation. The food was well worth the wait and was exactly something one would want after a long day at the beach.

Top Dog doesn't post their prices on their wall, so we were ordering in the blind. My son ordered some chili dogs and a plate of clams, plus a canned drink. Price came back, over $50. You can get a decent steak and sides for $50. I asked for a Clam Roll, but they say they don't offer one. They suggested I buy a plate of clams and they'd include a roll(?). Instead I ordered a plain hot dog and a canned drink, $9.10 Now that I have seen the menu prices (on TripAdvisor), I think they must price the canned drinks at around $3.75. I doubt the hot dog was only $3.50 as shown here. Confused. Maybe this Menu is itself out of date. Oh of course, we were on Bearskin Neck, prime commercial territory. Even so it seemed expensive. Then it took almost 15 minutes to call my order. One hot dog, 15 minutes? Not going back. Not recommending, rather warning folks off.

I know most people come here for their hot dogs, but what's hidden is their fried seafood! I like fried whole belly clams and Top Dog does them well. They aren't the fattest bellies that I have ever had (reason for the four stars), however considering the price point, this is a place that does serve great fried clams. I love quick service restaurants because it isn't that formal and I can easily take the food and enjoy it on the pier. Ambiance is not upscale, but take it outside! Rockport is beautiful. Enjoy it!

The food was way to expensive for the lack of quality. The staff were extremely rude playing obnoxious music. As we walked in a worker told us the store was closed when it really wasn't. There is way better restaurants on the pier.

This was the best meal on the island and it had some of the best workers as well. They gave me a very generous portion of onion rings and the chili dog was very good. There was a big problem with the register because I ordered and paid for clam chowder but they had run out, and so the kid had to refund me, and then I had to give him part of the refund back in order to pay for the chili dog. It was a disaster— but the kid handled it very well and got things back on track quickly. Then the kid needed a side of onion rings for another order but they didn’t have any prepared. I offered to loan him some of mine in exchange for another refund. He declined the offer and went back to making onion rings. He then asked us how the food was and we said that he gave us way too many onion rings. All things considered these guys were doing a great job given the circumstances. I may come back again very soon.Afterwards we went down to the end of the bearskin neck and we met another kid climbing underneath the rocks. We saw his head sticking out and looking around in a very suspicious fashion. We thought he was hiding his stash under there so we went to take a look. He showed us that he had been mapping the caves underneath the rocks. This kid was very suspicious until we got to know him and then we discovered that he had a heart of gold. He was a good kid and spending his youth under the rocks had made him tough. Our friend went down there for a few minutes and toured a sizable length of the cave, but this was not nearly the full extent of the caves which the kid had explored. He said that when the tide was lower the caves were much more expansive. For all his faults this kid did not hesitate to help us when we needed him most. Later on we went to get an ice cream and we saw this kid riding his bike. He was talking on the phone while he steered. He looked like a young version of Bruce. Bruce is a guy who lives around here and drives around on his motorbike pretending to sing Italian music. One time my friend who lives here stopped to talk to Bruce. Overall this was a great restaurant and I may come back again very soon.

Great spot for a casual dinner. There are many options from hamburgers to clams. Seating is outside with a counter type situation. we had a lovely time watching people go by and shop. It is on Bearskin Neck in Rockport Mass.

Top Dog has definitely fallen off. Went there Sunday Labor Day weekend. They ran out of fish for their fish sandwich. I was surprised there want a wait. Placed our order of one hot dog two grilled cheeses one over cooked onion rings and two orders of fries. 30 min later received our food. We will see if they are still open next year. Please bring back the previous owners.

RIP OFF! Don’t trust the prices you find online and don’t expect to know the prices once you get there either bc everything is “market price” including the hot dogs ? We got one large clam boat and a cup of chowder. $65. And yes I know seafood is not cheap but the extremely rude service was the cherry on top. We were incorrectly charged for $97 at first and the young man at the register “could not” fix the error despite the fact that we hadn’t even paid yet. It’s not rocket science and no matter how busy it is you can slow down to fix your own mistake!

This place has the worst seafood we have ever tasted. Not only overpriced, but all the meals were way over cooked in terribly old awful grease. We ate a little and threw our meals away. The place is very dirty as well.
