“Easily some of the best food north of Boston! The best way to describe it is as elevated Latin-inspired comfort food. The head chef and owner, Elvis, is amazing! He always makes a point of spending time with all of his customers, sharing stories about his incredible food and making sure everyone feels welcome. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for good food, good vibes, and good company!

“The charming iconic pub of Newburyport that's stood the test of time. It's a classic bar with a welcoming vibe. An end of the night or start of the night, type place. Overall a place with cheep drinks and fun locals. They have karaoke on Thursdays too.

Parking: No direct parking but only a short distance walk from the paid lots.“

“Cala’s is the Bee’s Knees! I am blown away with the quality of food and especially the service! Golden nachos COVERED in tender pulled pork and fresh cheese, chicken tenders are hand battered and well seasoned, hand cut french fries cooked to perfection. Food and service have been superb, consistent, and dependable. Definitely a regular spot for us.“

“I give this place 10 stars if it let me! My husband and I came in and sat at the bar. Service was immediate! We got chicken taquitos and a burger. All the food was bomb, the service the whole time was attentive and friendly. It’s hard to find good service now a day but this was hospitality.“

“We have been here before but only for a cocktail and snack. This was our first dinner.

I’m super happy to have a new place to add to the rotation. Our meals were delicious. I opted for the Steak Frites and he got the Pork Saltimbocca, our son (5) had the chicken quesadilla. We were all really happy with our choices. The steak was cooked perfect (I get medium) it was a nice pink and the flavor packed in each bite was so good. My husband couldn’t stop praising the pork and even said “it’s the best I think I have ever had”…of course I didn’t take offense. My son and I also loved the fries served with our meals, they are like steak fries but way better.

For drinks my husband got his usual martini (and he loves places that make it right…no vermouth!) and I had a black and tan (but with the Cider Donut cider beer from Boston’s own Downeast Cider)…nicknamed the Snakebite or Black Velvet.

The location off Bay Road was adjacent to the train station, so this will be a great meet-up location on my late voyages home when we are too tired to cook. It’s got a great bar (which we visited in the past) and was comfortable with the glow of a cool fireplace in the dining room.

We parked on the side street but there seems to be ample parking all around.

This dinner definitely did not disappoint, and we will be back!

“First of all this place is inside of a Plaza. I didn't know that before I got there but I do now. They have a very nice bar that seems to be pretty long accommodate plenty of guests. There is also lots of seating inside. I had the clam chowder and a pulled pork sandwich. The clam chowder was excellent. One of the better ones in the area for sure. Seemed to me like it was possibly homemade. The pulled pork sandwich was big and stuffed. I'll eat it twice. The fries that came with this were cooked to perfection. And they were good hand shaved fries. Are the people that my table had steak, Burger, chicken, and everything was delicious. This is a good place to take a client for an afternoon meal. It's also away from a lot of the hustle and bustle of Danvers. Just a good place to go and a good overall experience.“

“I was just there tonight which is Boxing Day 2022. I am giving black cow a a 3 because I was shocked at the prices. We had 1 sushi roll,1 shrimp app and 3 drinks ..90 bucks. (Don’t forget a Jim bean rocks with 1 good cherry 14 dollars) and about 1 1/2 fingers of amaretto straight)for 11 dollars) You’re better off spending your money somewhere else.. honestly. I’m a chef and understand rising costs however this is crazy however the service was pretty solid.“

“Excellent dinner choice. We had a rib eye, a salmon, a haddock, and a scallop dinner. Everything was excellent, cannot wait to go back. 2 people in our party had birthdays, and and we're given $10 gift cards they could use toward dessert or use at a later date. Highly recommend!“
