This place is such a treat. We stopped in on a whim after much deliberation about what to eat in Salem, and we’re so happy we did. The owner, Ray, acquired Adea’s a few years back and the addition of Jamaican menu items to the mediterranean offerings really is the highlight, in my opinion. My boyfriend got the Jerk Chicken plate and I got Escoveitch fish. Both dishes were incredible, and you can obviously tell the passion and appreciation Chef Ray has for his food. It was all so good: Crispy fish skin, peas and rice, and delicious house-made jerk sauce that blew us away. Places like this are few and far between, so do yourself a favor and sit down in this place!
I think this is the first review I’ve ever written about a place! I have been told to come here for years and I’m ashamed to say I never went until now and WOW do I regret waiting. Everything was absolutely delicious and I can’t wait to go back many times!
We got the pita falafel. It was just ok. Average. The staff were extremely friendly.
Jerk plate was ok, $20 I was expecting more flavor from the rice and peas and more plantain (only received two small pieces). The chicken had good flavor but wasn’t spicy at all.
Amazing authentic food. Loved every bite :)
Ray makes the best food around!
Fantastic & indulgent cheesecake & coffee!!!
Today, Chef Ray’s homemade mint tea, this time w/ sugar (though absolutely not required); heavenly as usual 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠
We got take out for lunch while in Salem. It has potential as some of the flavors were pleasant and the menu was diverse. The pita and falafel were solid. However, the downside was that our chicken dish was very dry and the hummus was watery. Hoping to give it another try.
10/10.
wether you are traveling or live here it is a must have.

Stopped in for lunch yesterday. My girlfriend has several dietary restrictions, so finding a place to eat can be a challenge sometimes. We saw Ray Adea’s in a quick Google search and decided to try it out.
The food was fantastic. The menu seemed to have plenty of options for people with various dietary needs. The serving could have been a little bigger, but the quality more than made up for it. I had the felafel which was absolutely delicious and the pita bread which was included was fluffy and amazing.
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere was that of your typical family-owned take-out joint, but everything seemed clean and well kept.
I was most impressed by the fact that they had a sign in the window stating that if you are hungry and in need, to come in and a cup of soup will be provided, no questions asked. Any small business that gives back to their community is A+ in my book.
I was very happy to support these folks and will definitely eat there again next time I’m in Salem!
