Terrible experience today at this restaurant. I have attended here before on a couple occasions but the restaurant staff were very rude today. Also the French onion soup I ordered was very sour and cooked on a pan (I saw through the kitchen window). Overall the worst experience I’ve ever had at this restaurant extremely disappointing. I won’t be eating here again for a long time.

What a darling little treasure of a restaurant! The space is small but the service is friendly and helpful, the food is great, and you can’t go wrong with melty cheese! Crispy fries with the right proportion of aioli and cheese, heavenly French onion soup, tasty paninis, and great coffee. We tried going for lunch yesterday but it was really busy so we tried again today and are so happy we got in.

We thought the food was absolutely delicious and for a decent price! We even ended up going twice in one week on our visit to Salem.

We absolutely loved visiting Salem and the delicious Au Gratin. We were greeted at the door by the owner, Mike. He also served us. The service was great and the food was top notch! Oh my gosh, it was so GOOD! I highly recommend visting Au Gratin!

Really tasty soup of the day but served warm so asked for it to be reheated. This seemed to upset the server- Bad day to sit down for lunch and the server was stressed - she told us she was the only server with only two chefs. Several people turned and walked out or canceled their order due to the long wait. Such a pity as it was the only meal we ate in Salem so bad memories were made.

Best Butternut Squash soup we’ve ever had! The chicken panini sandwich was excellent as well. Prices were reasonable. Highly recommended. Would go back in a heartbeat!

Staff really great and friendly, bathroom was clean, only complaint is the food it was just… not good. I did like the plain french fries but the plant based onion soup looks how it tastes, unappetizing with little to no flavor

We stopped in for a quick bite during our visit to Salem. Avoiding the crowds and where pleasantly surprised. Service was friendly and the food was served quickly and worth the price. Seemed to be more of a locals spot since alot of orders to go went out during our time there. Would definitely recommend it.

I’ve lived in Salem my whole life. This is one place that needs to stay forever. The food is so good, service is great, and never a long wait for food that has turned my whole day around.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. Loved the short rib au jus and the turkey Brie. Mac and cheese looked delicious, too (I’ll have to get that next time). Lots of lobster options that looked tasty. Loved the fries, & truffles fries were out of this world. Indoor and outdoor seating options. Such a charming spot!

Surprisingly good small restaurant right on the way walking in to Salem from the Commuter Rail. Excellent service from Henry. Friendly and helpful. House made blueberry lemonade was tasty and not too sweet. Short rib panini was tasty and moist and enough to share. Our side was street corn. Lovely flavor! A very nice surprise. Hope to go back soon!
