Best Latte Ever! It tastes so good we had to come back a second time before leaving Salem! The breakfast sandwich is also amazing, it comes warm and the sourdough is really good! Also loved the banana bread! Really recommend you try at least their latte and one of their foods!

If you’re looking for a fantastic vegan brunch, this place is a must-visit! Their **vegan breakfast sandwich** is the best — deliciously toasted fresh bread with plant-based savory fillings.

Picture this… Halloween day, Salem is busy and buzzing, we are hungry! We wait in line for 40ish minutes, no one from the cafe came near anyone in the line, just a guy opening the door when tables became available. We were seated by the window, the air con directly above us, it’s freezing but we say nothing! We order 2 chicken sandwiches, 2 diet cokes and 1 Mac and Cheese to share - $70 😒 Mid meal, an older couple sit beside us with their Adult son. Our server - who was in full make up / Halloween attire (Art the murdering clown) was this couples server too! The older man took out his phone and took a photo of the server when she came to the table - keeping in mind that she was in full make up and costume attire! The server started going crazy ‘you took a photo of me without my consent’ ‘why would you take a photo, that’s not ok’… the man was speechless! The server walked off… the man’s son starts shouting at him! This went on for a good 10mins… all the while we are eating our basic chicken sandwich! The atmosphere was grim. 10mins later, the manager walks over and has a go at the older man, ‘sir you took a photo of my staff member without consent - that is not ok, I will be serving you’! I could not pick our server out of a line up due to the Halloween attire… we are speechless. The staff had Zero regard for other guests who witnessed all this. I had to go to the toilet, there are 4 toilets, gender neutral and you MUST let staff go before you if they need to so they can skip the line! Just to keep that in mind if you do visit here. Loved Salem, don’t love this place unfortunately!

Ordered the Meats and Cheeses. Honestly, it’s embarrassing. The meats are right out of their deli-meat grocery-store packaging. There are no marinated veggies aside from about half a pickle, the pita chips were in a chips bag, nuts are bland walnuts and cheeses are also out of a package. Terrible.
Didn't eat but met with some friends for the open mic night. Great hosts, great bar staff, great drinks. Great night.

We stopped into Gulu-Gulu Café for some snacks and coffee after hearing a few great recommendations. The food and drinks were good — nothing to complain about there — but we didn’t realize there was going to be a drag show happening when we arrived! It was super packed, loud, and definitely not what we were expecting for a quick, chill stop.
That said, the energy was fun and the crowd seemed to be having a great time. It just wasn’t the right vibe for what we were looking for at the moment. I’d love to come back another time when it’s a little calmer to really check out the full menu and enjoy the atmosphere.
Overall, cool spot — just be ready for a lively scene depending on when you go!
