The best part of our trip to Salem was the pumpkin spice latte from Roseadela’s.

The food is surprisingly costly. I do understand that it's a small business and it's made by humans rather than machines, but my goodness. I paid $8ea for two bottles of what was labeled as "Lemonade with Lavender". The uniqueness of that blend is why I had agreed to pay so much to treat myself. After I opened it I immediately saw that there was absolutely not a single drip of lavender in it whatsoever. It tasted like it was made of actual lemons but it could have been the kind of lemon juice that comes in that little yellow bottle at the grocery store. It was unbelievably tart. Almost unpleasantly so. The lavender would have done a lot to offset the tartness but alas there was not a drip of lavender whatsoever.

Since I had paid $16 for this I sent a message to the company on the label. They apologized and made a couple excuses and agreed to partially refund my credit card if I could tell them the other items I had purchased on my receipt. I thanked them and told them every item I had purchased- but that I had paid in cash. It was at that point that they stopped all further communication. It seems like they feel they got my money so they don't have to do anything further. ??‍♀️

In addition to the lemonade I also purchased some hibiscus shortbread cookies that were very yummy. Can barely taste the hibiscus at all but the shortbread was above average so I left pleased with those. They should have been labeled shortbread cookies with a hint of hibiscus, as that would be more appropriate. But like I said they were delicious as they were.

The young man behind the counter was pleasant and personable. He was kind when explaining the coffee choices to the friend who was with me that day.

She ordered a grilled cheese sandwich which he immediately instructed his coworker to start preparing but I don't think she actually did. We were sitting there for quite a long time without it coming out. Grilled cheese only takes a moment or two to make so I don't know why we were sitting there for 14 minutes after our receipt says we placed the order. She ended up having to walk back up and ask him if her grilled cheese is almost ready. At which point he told her it would only be another minute or two. She got it very quickly after that. We suspect they forgot to prepare it at all until she walked up to remind them. The gentleman was very nice though but it is what it is.

That was her experience however. My review is based upon mine.

Looking for quieter cafe in Salem with excellent coffee and good sandwiches and shockingly high quality chocolate and baked goods come to cafe Roseadelas. I stumbled on it and couldn't believe it's not mobbed on a summer Saturday. By far best food I spied in town for basic lunch and coffee. Service a little slow but worth wait.

I previously had a vegan pastry at this location and was excited to checkout their other menu offerings, but as of August 2024, they had no vegan food offerings

The sandwich on a fresh baguette was simple and delicious and it's worth a stop for lunch or breakfast. Staff was also patient, professional, and enthusiastic.

I go here semi often and today 6/10 was terrible. I order an iced rose tea latte and I admit I jumped the gun when the person making the teas and coffees starting making a hot and tried to correct them. They made it clear that it wasn’t mine, so I tried to apologize and they just slammed things around. When they aggressively slid me my drinks I tried to apologize again, and they turned their back to me and offered a “ yup, all good” while walking away. I think that level of rudeness was uncalled for, for a simple mistake that I tried very hard to sincerely apologize for. I’ve worked in food service for years, and that level of passive aggression from a male presenting person made me not ever want to go back. I’ll just go to red line from now on. Which is a shame because I loved the drinks and pastries there, I have since they were just a booth at the farmers market. But, that one interaction has made me not want to return, and tell my local friends and business owners to watch out for this tall, long haired, young, male presenting person
