I actually worked at this place over the summer of 2024, so I could care less that they know who’s writing this review, im Happy this place closed down the owners didn’t know how to run the place, there were bugs everywhere, the health inspector came in and gave numerous citations (btw the owners were hiding and not there the whole time this happened) and also people were constantly complaining about the quality of the food (egg rolls, spareribs) lmaooo f this place

So disappointed that the chop suey sandwich tasted totally different . Very peppery . Thought it was a fluke , but went back and it was peppery again . Had a grayish color to the juice . That sandwich has been an icon to my family . Please go back to original recipe .

Since they changed owners it’s horrible and has gone downhill. Don’t think you’re going to get duck sauce with your Chinese food they are going to give you ketchup. They’re the only Chinese food place that I have heard of that doesn’t have it.

Got 2 combo dishes. I had the onion rings with chop suey and pork fried rice. Took forever to get waited on and to get the food. Went and sat down in the willows and don't find any duck sauce or ketchup which I think should come automatically. Chop suey not up to the old standard. The rice was the best part of it.

I always preferred Ghengis (RIP) to Salem Lowe anyway, but the new Salem Lowe is worse than the old one. I'm pulling for them, honestly. I love cheap Chinese food joints, but this place does not do it well at all.
Ordered the mango pork belly burger. The Waikini. The condiments were great. I got two hamburgers with cheese. No pork belly.

my husband and I used to come here last year and the food was marvelous. We came back this year and we ordered a beef with broccoli boneless spareribs and chicken fried rice and the food was horrible. The beef and broccoli taste like cat food and the boneless spareribs were three of them and all you could see pieces slab of fat on them and the fried rice was blah. I will not ever come here again the lady she was very nice, but the food was -0.

My beef teriyaki was burnt, pork fried rice had no flavor and the pork in it was pretty low quality. Used to be one of my favorite spots for Chinese food, not sure what happened.

I’ve been to Salem Lowe twice this year. The first time the gave me an egg roll with only bean sprouts in it, no cabbage or pork like the menu states.
The second time I paid $14 for 7 pieces of general gau’s chicken.

Been going to the Salem Lowes for 15 years just tried it after new owners took over very disappointed counter help saw us and stood there several minutes before coming to the window even tho he wasn't working on any orders. When took it home due to the heat which we have done alot with the previous owners. The tender steak was not tender it was over cooked hard to Chew and dry, and since they hardly put any gravy on it it was even drier when you ate the bread in the bite. The amount they put on the bun was like a 1/4 of what used to be on it. Save your money and eat at another place. Very disappointed the only thing better with the new owners is the napkins. Trying to save money on giving you less food just lost a lot of years of sales. Please Sell it to someone that will continue the old owners recipes.

I bought a pepper steak and tender steak and was totally disappointed. The steak was Iike it came out of a Alpo can of dog food and there wasn't a pepper to be found. It didn't even come close to the previous owners. I have heard horror stories about this food but wanted to give it a try for myself and sorry I did. The staff also looked like they didn't want to be there. I won't be returning and from the reviews it looks like I'm not the only one. What a disappointment and a slap in the face to the previous owners

New owners decided to change everything up. They now put pickles in their chop suey sandwiches. The chicken not so bad but why would you ruin a good thing and add pickles after an astronomically large weight just to get my food. It came out horrible. Stay away from them unless they can go back to the original recipes that have been there for generations new company. Horrible food stay far away
I was brought to Salem Lowe by my grandparents ever since I was a little baby and they were close friends of the previous owners. Decided to go back, and I'm trying my best to compare the food not to my idealized image of what the food used to taste like, but be fair and compare it to other Chinese food in general.
With that said, it was just BAD. I ordered a combo consisting of fried rice, chicken wings, and tender steak. My friend with me ordered General Gau's chicken, lo mein, and mozzarella sticks.
The fried rice tasted burned and was inedible. My friend tried some and identified it as smoke flavor added to it. The pork in the rice was tiny little cubes that could barely be tasted, and there wasn't any ah-so on them.
The tender steak portion was tiny compared to what used to come with the combo plates, and while edible had a strangely sweet flavor to it. I also asked for cheese and rather than bury the cheese to melt inside the pile of tender steak the slice was just lazily tossed on top.
I got chicken fingers by accident instead of the wings, and they did replace them when I requested, but rather than receive two entire chicken wings like I used to, I only received two halves, and neither the chicken wings or chicken fingers were anything out of the ordinary.
My friend's General Gau's chicken was a very strong red color and had a ton of sauce but was overall flavorless. The lo mein was extremely salty and tasted of nothing but soy sauce. I don't really remember the mozzarella sticks but it only came with two and they couldn't have been anything good.
As many other people have mentioned as well, the prices went up considerably as well.
I tried going in with an open mind and telling myself it would be unfair to compare it to the old food, but even compared to other Chinese restaurants around the area it was objectively bad and I will not be returning.
