Portside Waterfront Kitchen & Bar offers a charming dining experience with a comfortable outdoor space overlooking the river, featuring incredible views of Newburyport, the Merrimack River, and out to Plum Island. The restaurant boasts a fun cocktail menu and a variety of lunch options, including top-notch shrimp appetizers, parmesan crusted haddock entrees, and a delicious BLT, as well as tasty beet salad and truffle fries. The service is excellent and abundant, with attentive staff who get guests in quickly. The atmosphere is relaxing, with live music in the evening and a beautiful view, though the drinks can be weak. While some dishes like the buttered lobster roll and chicken sandwich Cemita may be bland, the calamari is great. The parking lot fills fast, but another lot across Rte 1 offers golf cart shuttle service. The price is reasonable, and the food is good—not earth-shattering but yummy. Though the marina view is limited and boat access isn’t possible, the outdoor space makes up for it. Portside Waterfront Kitchen & Bar is a great choice for a meal out.
