Not worth a visit. First, on the weekend, parking is quite difficult here. Second, the Vietnamese food at this restaurant is mediocre. Third, the ambience of the restaurant is a bit off.

Spring rolls were decent, we got the pork version and the flavor of the charred meat was good. That’s where it stopped being good.

We had the grilled pork Bahn mi and grilled shrimp vermicelli bowl. It took about 45 min to get these served (should’ve taken 10) and both were definitely not worth the wait. The Bahn mi was small ($14-16) and the baguette lacked crunch or texture. The vermicelli bowl similarly lacked flavor.

All in all disappointing — skip!

I was really looking forward to upscale Vietnamese dining but this place was not it. Restaurant itself is nicely decorated (though they should dim the light a bit). Service was pretty good. However food was extremely overpriced for ridiculously small portions and very mediocre / below average food. I was very excited to try the option 2 platter with the banh bot loc, banh nam, and banh khot as these are all my favorite foods and it's very hard to find a restaurant that serve these. It was meh. I had the chao tom vermicelli and the portion was sooo small! Might as well go to Dorchester for better and cheaper Vietnamese food. Everyone in our party came to the consensus that this was not a place worth revisiting unfortunately.

Beef spring rolls were delicious. The tofu Banh Mi was pretty good but just another Banh Mi. However, the Banh Mi was pretty cheap ($12), so they seem to know its place

Fantastic food, chicken is very juicy and flavorful, however portions are small. Get lots of food to share and make sure to try it with the spicy sauce

We tried An Nam earlier this summer after some hot weekday shopping around Assembly Row. The restaurant interior looks really nice, with unique tiling and furniture. It was quite hot inside -- around 80F -- which didn't pair well with the hot noodle soup dishes...

We got 4 items, which was more than enough food for 3 people. We tried the appetizer combo #2. My favorite appetizer was the tapioca dumplings -- great texture and flavor with shrimp inside. The other items were not particularly good, so I would just get the tapioca dumplings in the future.

The pho tai was quite disappointing. The broth was sweet, which was the most prominent flavor (rather than having any sort of beefy savoriness or richness). The meat was a bit thick and stringy. The noodles were fine. I wouldn't get this again.

The grilled pork banh mi was decent. The bread was good, it had some sour and sweet vegetable flavors, and the grilled pork was alright. I prefer other places for banh mi, so I wouldn't come back to An Nam for the banh mi.

I tried a bit of the clay pot rice with pork belly. I thought the flavor was pretty good. The pork wasn't super tender but it was edible. I might try the claypot catfish in the future.

The service was okay; they took a while to fill up our water even though there weren't many parties in the restaurant. Their menu is pretty extensive so I may come back in the future. I really wanted to try the bun rieu but unfortunately a lot of their specials were not available that day.

Had lunch there alone. I ordered the claypot catfish. It is delicious, but of a small portion. The fish bones are not that easy to deal with as well.
The restaurant looks new and clean.

Overall The atmosphere and service were great. Food was lacking this time. Seemed like a nice place to get lunch or dinner
Chicken pho lacked depth. Maybe I’ll try a different one next time. Beef bahn mi was not bad. Can’t compete w Vietnamese food in Dorchester I think. I’m glad there is viet food in assembly but I’d rather go to Ba Le for bahn mi. The clay pot dishes at A Nam were really good though. I would come back for that. Everything inside was well decorated and clean. The light was bright and the bar area could be fun.

Our experience at An Nam in Assembly was overall enjoyable. The food was good, though it was lacking some depth of flavor. However, the service and atmosphere really heightened our dining experience, making it feel special. The pricing is on the higher side, but it’s not unreasonable considering the location. If you’re in the area and looking for a nice spot to dine, it’s worth checking out.

I would come here everyday! Probably the cleanest VN restaurant in Boston. Great location, you can street park or park at TJ Maxx. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Food was amazing so was the drink. There is also An Nam at Harvard Square, smaller, but the same quality!
