Food is straight garbage period! And the delivery driver is rude and demands a large tip.

Typical Chinese takeout spot with subpar food.Recently stumbled Upton this place while getting an ice cream nearby. From the outside, it looked okay, but the food overall was below that of standard Chinese takeout joints. The meat dishes, specifically the Spicy Salt & Pepper Pork Chop and Chicken Wings, were quite disappointing. Both appeared to be made from frozen meats, which resulted in a dry and unappetizing texture. The wings were particularly underwhelming, with brittle bones chopped at awkward angles. Its sharp edges and small bone fragments made it challenging to eat, and I ended up throwing out half of it.The rice dishes, the Beef Fried Rice and the House Special Fried Rice, were also mediocre at best. The rice texture in both dishes seemed off, likely due to the use of undercooked frozen rice, and the flavors were lackluster.Thankfully, some of their other protein dishes like the Egg Foo Young Shrimp and Mapo Tofu were decent. The Egg Foo Young, though not particularly fluffy, was somewhat redeemed by a savory Chinese gravy sauce. While Chow N Joy may suffice for a quick, no-frills Chinese meal, I would recommend going to Zoe’s nearby for a more quality Chinese food.Parking: Somerville Plaza Parking lot: Free (Difficult to find open spots)Somerville Ave Street Parking: 2 Hr Free (Difficult to find open spots)

This place stinks. Food is incredibly sub par for the price and you can get better Asian food anywhere around. It is really that bad, u can make better food in my kitchen out of scraps. This is a last resort for late night drunchies. Terrible. Please go somewhere

This is a regular Asian joint for high speed take out. But it doesn't live up to the rep of the archetype. Two points to offer in support: 1) they have a regular and large size, which is a decision nobody wants to make at the outset. The regular is tiny, so you should probably order the large. 2) the essential dishes are absent flavor and quality ingredients. For example, I ordered something schezuan, and it came out pretty bland. I put in old kimchi that I had at home to make it work. The chicken was rubbery with no flavor. It's saving grace is that it is open, even on Christmas Day. But so are other Asian takeout joints. I'd recommend you pass on this, until they improve.

This is my go-to for American-Chinese delivery. Overall, they provide good-to-decent food at very reasonable prices for the area, and I appreciate the consistency in their service. My favorites from this place are: - General Gau Chicken, Sesame Chicken - Sesame Beef, Orange Flavor Beef - Beef Teriyaki, Chicken Teriyaki - Spare Ribs - Korean Fish Corn Dog (*note below) I personally find their dumplings (home-made dumplings and shumaI) to be OK - like I'll get them if I'm specifically in the mood for those items, but I'd never go out of my way to get them. I also appreciate that Chow n' Joy is one of the few places in the area that still do the combo specials that let you pair entrees, rice and appetizers. *Oh, regarding the Korean Fish Corn Dog: I believe the meat in the corn dog is fished-based and is more of a fish-cake than a traditional hot dog weiner. It's also Korean style so there is a sweetness to it, including some okonomiyaki sauces - I personally like this but I can see westerners being surprised if they were expecting a traditional American corn dog.

Sorry, but this is NOT chow mein. . Also ordered bbq pork buns. They're decent. Walnut shrimp was also decent. Deep fried in bready (not crunchy) batter. Served with some candied walnuts, kewpie/sweet mayo, and a few raw/lightly steamed broccoli. Ready to pickup in 10 minutes.

Literally asked him if there is duck sauce and enough. He's like, yeah, and was hesitant. Needless to say, it's not enough for 3 appetites and rice for And I ate a crab Rangoon already.
