They will demand you to tip very highly and don’t even care about the costumer service. We wanted to tip lower as we have the freedom to choose what we tip and the white haired waiter literally forced us to tip higher. Ridiculous.

genki ya is one of my favorite sushi spots!! the food is always super fresh, the rolls are perfectly made, and the portions are really generous for the price. the staff is always so kind and fast too, it just feels like they actually care about the customers. everything tastes clean and consistent every time i go. if you love sushi, you’ll love genki ya:)

Delicious! I love their sushi. Only wish they had outdoor dining because I cannot eat inside
I thought the food was alright.

This is a great restaurant to meet friends and family for dinner in Davis Square - excellent food and calm and quiet enough for conversation. I especially love the vegetarian sushi combo (replacing the veggie dragon roll with veggie delight roll). My family members have enjoyed the veggie tempura, yellowtail sushi, salmon teriyaki and more. The miso soup and edamame are better than most places too.

They have to learn to treat drivers who go to get orders better.
This used to be my go-to affordable sushi place. Both locations have really gone downhill lately. Fish is falling apart, flavorless, probably spends too much time on ice, California rolls are 65% cucumber. Sashimi is way overpriced now too considering the quality has gone down. It’s a shame.
Restaurantji Recommends
I am by no means a sushi connoisseur, but the vegetarian options are solid, filling, and delicious. A reliable favorite! I have gotten take out and eaten in many times, always excellent.
Great food and drinks. Prices were competitive (still a bit pricey as it is in Somerville). The place was a bit small and the tables were close together but I enjoyed the experience and would recommend it.
My friend and I both ate tempura which made us ill, called the next day and the restaurant told us to go to the hospital and collect evidence rather than say they would actually do anything or even check their shrimp / batter. Service/atmosphere was fine, but would avoid to prevent food poisoning.
Food was by far amazing and yummy at the same time. Price is reasonable. Atmosphere at the bar has some great cushy seats.
