I absolutely loved the Nepali/Indian food that we got here. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. Although there was limited seating.
The spicy momos were top-notch. Highly recommend!

RIDICULOUSLY DELICIOUS
Absolutely bonkers how good this was
Goat (Taas set) was orders of magnitude better than any goat I've ever had. Goat is normally hard, dry, small bits of meat on lots of bone. This was large, juicy, beautiful, marinated-overnight pieces of meat with just a little bone. My fiancee's mango curry (weekend special) was unbelievable also, but the real star was the _____ paratha that came with it - butterier than a french pastry. Samosa Chaat was fantastic too (though didn't realize it wouldn't come in the wrappers - the chaat version is deconstructed I suppose. Would have preferred the wrapper kind). All of it was very reasonably priced. Mine was $15.50, hers was $13ish, appetizer was $9.50. We will 100% be coming back! Plus the guy is very friendly - it's a family establishment!

This place claims to be a Nepali restaurant, but it doesn’t feel Nepali at all.
First of all, they completely messed up our orders — the takeout order was served at the table, and the dine-in order was packed to go. Mistakes can happen, but they didn’t even apologize or seem to care.
Second, the concept of Thali/Thakali in Nepali cuisine means you can refill rice, vegetables, and curries as much as you want (as long as it’s for the same person and not shared). That’s true for every genuine Nepali restaurant I’ve been to across the U.S. — but here, they actually charged extra just for rice.
Also, the picture of the thali on their banner is completely misleading. The real food looks nothing like it — fewer items, less variety, and missing key dishes that a real Thakali set should have.
If you’re looking for authentic Nepali food, there are plenty of great options around Boston. Avoid this one — I definitely won’t be coming back.

I stumbled upon Himalayan Kitchen coming back from a show at the Jungle close to closing, and one of the owners was welcoming, kind, and energetic. He gave us a table, a show (his great juggling), and a wonderful experience. The food was impeccable, hot, and plentiful. If you are looking for a locally owned, family-run business, this is your place.

Delicious food, generous portions. I really love their naan, goat sekuwa, and palak paneer. The owner is very kind and always goes out of his way to accommodate guests. I've not had a chance to sit down and eat here, yet, but the inside is cozily decorated.

A real gem. We were in town and needed to change dinner venues. Himalayan Kitchen was an incredibly lucky find. Walking up to the door we almost changed our mind since it looked almost like a takeout place. We walked through the door and saw that they had a few tables, with one empty. We were studying the menu when Jay, the owner, came over introduce himself. We ordered the Mo Mo to share. This was when we knew the food was really interesting and delicious. And the rest of dinner didn’t disappoint. We’ll definitely be back. It sounds like a lot of customers order takeout, which is fine. But I'd really recommend stopping in to this family run restaurant. When you do, say hello to Jay and he might share the origin of some of dishes and some of his background.

Really delicious food, the momos were great, the Nepali Thalia was delicious especially the sautéed mustard greens and pickle with the main vegetables was a surprise.
Mattar paneer was delicious too with chapatis and garlic naan.
Bhendi masala was average but the owner was very honest about it, especially with the availability of okra.
Loved the service, very kind and fast. The ambiance and atmosphere is great too. Small place but a lot of character.

I had the chicken biryani. I enjoyed the authentic spices and the portion was so generous. The service staff were excellent as they even helped me refill my water and take away the rest of my food.

They told us the pakoras only has cauliflower but it actually also contains onions. The thing is we have onion allergy. Definitely not worth the long wait or the painful reactions. The pakoras is also not that good, too burnt.

Dropped by during Somerville's annual Fluff Fest, and the spiked Fluff and Mango Lassi was to die for. As always, the Chicken Tikka Naan-wich is UNDENIABLE.
