While staff is generally pleasant but lacks customer service skills, my review is based on cleanliness. I live in the area, so this is somewhere I frequent. Every table is always sticky and gross. The bathroom is nasty. It’s convenient and consistent so far, yes, but 3 star at best.

I have trouble digesting ice cream but my friend and I wanted it! So we went to assembly row in Somerville and the baby had fallen asleep in the car. So I ran in to see what I would like so then she could run in and get what she likes too, and the girl working was amazing. I saw a chocolate and vanilla dairy free Ice cream. She had already said I could try any or all the flavors which was amazing so I asked to try the non dairy vanilla. Much to my surprise I loved it and added hot fudge and Oreos. It's the first time I ever finished a whole ice cream! I forgot what my friend ordered but she was just as happy. For me the way I was greeted and offered to try any flavor or all was above and beyond. I know they usually do that but this was extra special because I didn't feel ice cream sitting in me for days. We'll definitely be back. Everything, especially the service was perfect! I wish I knew her name but I was so excited to finally try the dairy free I didn't ask. And it did taste like ice cream. Highly recommend all J. P. Licks!
Vegetarian options: Thank you for showing me the dairy free and letting me try it. I loved it and will always get that now. Maybe next time I'll do a scoop of vanilla and a scoop of chocolate with my toppings. I've seen it at the store but wasn't spending $10 to try something I might not have liked.. #1 fan 🥰

Wheelchair accessibility: You could get in with a wheelchair but I think someone would have to open and hold the door. I'm disabled and didn't see a button to automatically open it but I also wasn't in my walker at the time so that is when I would have really noticed but it's on the ground level and I think of someone opened and helod the door it wouldn't be a problem

This time I ordered caramel apple and lime grape ice cream cones. The caramel apples are very special, the cinnamon apples and caramel sauce are mixed together to be sweet and delicious. The fragrant grapes of lime grape absorb the flavor of lime wine, and it is also full of flavor when paired with milk ice cream. Visited today, one girl scooping ice cream and working the others running around making coffee or pretending to be busy when there was no one else in front of us made no sense. Standing for 10 minutes while our ice cream melted waiting to be checked out we finally had to say something. They were incompetent and rude. The water outside for dogs is contaminated and pink color this location is awful. I go to others in Newton and Brookline etc way better this one awful

I love J.P. Licks, but this location could use some improvement. Despite having at least six employees working, the line moves incredibly slowly… I waited 25 minutes for ice cream while standing inside. It seems the staff is more focused on chatting, making mistakes with orders, and blasting music rather than serving customers efficiently.
I also noticed several concerning hygiene practices. None of the employees were wearing gloves, and I saw two of them using the same spoons for multiple toppings and even picking up dropped toppings with their hands. This is not only unhygienic but also poses a serious risk to customers with food allergies.
It’s also incredibly unkempt and the tables have messes all over them and the floor is very dirty.

Awful and incompetent service. Bathroom hadn't been cleaned in days. It was disgusting and unusable. After 20 minutes of standing in line while the workers laughed and took their sweet time. We ended up just getting the boxed ice cream and leaving. The ice cream was really good
