The place was deserted; that should have clued me in.

The naruto was leaky. As in, the stuff inside it was leaking water onto the plate enough for me to have to relocate the pieces.

The specialty sushi was too salty.

And the homemade dumplings were just okay.

All in all I was expecting a lot more from a place rated so highly. I don't often give bad reviews but the owner needs to take a hard look as to why the shop is empty during prime lunch time on a weekend.

I had an amazing experience at PaPa Sushi The food was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. Every bite was flavorful and well-balanced — you can tell the chefs take great pride in their work.

I went to PaPa today to get a to-go order.

When I arrived, a hostess greeted me and I looked through a menu. Oddly, I noticed the menu displayed different (higher) prices than online ordering systems.

I ordered three items.
- Yellowtail Scallion Maki
- Yellowtail Nigiri
- Yaki Udon Chicken

I paid, and the food was to be ready in about 20 minutes.

After waiting outside, I came back in about 15 minutes later and picked up my food. There were no seats available for people waiting on to-go orders. I had seen nobody enter the restaurant while I was waiting, and nobody was seated in the restaurant.

I drove home 5 minutes down the road, and immediately went inside and opened up my food.

I was immediately disappointed to find that there was absolutely no temperature barrier between the HOT Udon and the COLD sushi. The sushi container was noticeably warm.

I proceeded to open and eat the sushi, and found that the nigiri was poorly balanced. The fish appeared notably low quality, being grey with no hint of pink. It smelled fine, so I ate it. The cuts of fish were also much smaller than I'd typically expect, with way too much rice. The maki wasn't any better. The scallion was nearly imperceptible, and almost no fish was used. Both nigiri and maki were room temperature to slightly warm from being next to the Udon. How disappointing.

Next, I proceeded to try the udon. I found a few things. First off, it had a reasonable amount of chicken, coupled with onions, carrots, and broccoli. The chicken was dry and too lightly seasoned. The udon tasted pretty good, the onions were solidly good, and the carrots and broccoli were mostly just garnish.

All in all, I would not recommend this place. I understand that they are pretty new, and hopefully they will improve, but certainly not without some substantial improvements to the food.

PaPa Sushi is AMAZING! Went here a couple nights ago with some friends. Everything we ordered tasted SO good and so fresh. Service was great, too—never had to ask for waters refilled, and our server even flagged us down when we nearly forgot our takeout. Very calm atmosphere, perfect for relaxing and eating sushi until your heart’s content. They even have a jukebox so you can play your favorite songs. 10/10 would recommend!!

Came on a Monday night and the place was empty short of some takeout orders. Sushi was mediocre and the bill came out to $72 for some rolls and sashimi. A little overpriced and won’t be returning.

Great food, dumplings perfectly cooked. Nice clean place with modern scan-to-order and mood lighting, good service, in the corner looking out on Magoun Sq.

Fantastic local sushi spot we tried recently after re-opening including sushi and noodle dishes. The specialty rolls and sashimi which were very fresh and creatively crafted with strong presentation. They recently added a Beef Noodle soup to their menu which was very tasty with a unique broth base that's hard to find anywhere else. Would definitely come here again it has a very nice vibe and great service

The sushi is definitely sub par. Fish was cut thin, soy sauce was Chinese dark soy, not a Japanese soy.

Absolutely delish from start the finish with prompt service. The miso soup was great and the sashimi was very good. Can skip out on the Mango mochi either! We will definitely be returning.
