Great wine selection. Love just grabbing a glass of something unusual and heading to the outdoor seating for a sip.

Lauren and crew are awesome and so deeply knowledgeable. Ask them questions, get recommendations, meet your neighbors. That's what's great about such a tiny space, face time with staff! Don't sweat the autograt, you were gonna tip 20% anyway. Support your local wine nerds.

Read through the replies of the owner to some of the one star reviews. Supremely immature and unprofessional. They seriously should try treating people with a little more respect.
This place is actually quite cool, but it rips you off with what is essentially a hidden fee. You get a glass of wine that’s listed for $17, but end up paying $25 because of automatic 20% gratuity. I’m fine with paying a tip, but it should not be automatically included. Also, 20% tip for pouring a glass of wine is kinda crazy. I get if I’m seated getting served a meal, or if I’m getting a fancy cocktail. But not for just pouring a glass. That’s barely service. It’s only marginally less insane than asking for a tip at a self checkout counter.
If you need to charge $25 per glass, then please just list that price on the menu. I’d be willing to pay that for a good glass (maybe not at a place with such bad service, but that’s a separate issue). But it makes me irate if I expect to pay $17 and then suddenly get a bill that’s like 40% higher. If you need to trick and rip off your customers to make ends meet, then your business model is a failure and you should close up shop.

Don’t hesitate. One of the best wine bars in the Boston area. And one of the best substacks on planet Earth.

I had SUCH a good time at Rebel Rebel!! The energy is so positive, the staff were super friendly and helpful, and the drinks were great. Their non-alcoholic options were the absolute best I've had going out-- they have fancy kombuchas, which I found way more interesting and worth the money than any mocktail. My gf also loved their regular wine. Also very convenient they're in the Bow Market area so you can bring in food or take your drink outside. I'm surprised how much I (as someone who typically does not enjoy alcohol) could love a bar and be eager to return!

Great recommendations, excellent wines, lots of community. Try going when they aren’t too busy after dinner on a week night, it’s the best time to chat with the servers and learn a little about wine.

This is a sexy, cozy, little wine bar tucked in very hip union square. I like going in with a thought in my mind about a feeling I'd like my wine to evoke, and the team always delivers. It's a great chance to taste cool stuff and learn a little about regions that I tend to prefer. Go in, and go for a ride.

Better late than never! I went to Rebel Rebel for the first time this spring—I don't live in Boston but was visiting a friend who organized an event there. Honestly, my trip made me consider moving to Boston just to be able to hang out there. It can be kind of lonely to be queer/lesbian in the wine space, so it was insanely refreshing to be in such a welcoming space that serves such great wine.
I also love that they value their workers and include gratuity on the check—people often underestimate the amount of training and education that goes into working in the hospitality industry. Service has value! And people who work in service deserve to be paid fairly for their time and energy.

This establishment is the reason I am in Somerville. It's how I discovered Bow Market. If natural wine and inclusive feminist spaces are your jam, you will find much love here. The wine is unpretentious and delicious while the staff and owner are spectacular. This isn't just a wine bar, it's a community building space.

I've been coming to Rebel Rebel regularly for about 2 years now. The space is cozy, the staff is nice and knowledgeable, and the wine is great. Lots of great food options nearby and you can bring in food from Bow Market. What else could you want from a wine bar?
Easily one of my favorite spots in the area! Wonderful bartenders and really lovely selections of wine.
