I generally love this little spot, but charging an automatic 20% gratuity for simply pouring a glass of wine is criminal. Maybe if it took some skill and effort like a cocktail, but it actually takes less skill and effort than pouring a proper pint of beer. It's an especially heinous act when you seek out the bartender's knowledge of the wines on their menu for a recommendation and find out that they are completely clueless, untrained, and so confused that they just point to the menu with a blank stare. Not the experience I've come to expect from them.
Update in response to Rebel Rebel's comment on my review...
Woah there, cowboy! I'm not going to take offense to you comment because you are clearly confused about my identity. I was there on Saturday at noon. I was on a date and had no friends with me, as you have suggested. Nor am I anonymous, and I'd be happy to stop in to speak with the manager about both my experience and the ignorant way in which you have misidentified me. While I cannot take offense to you attempting to berate someone other than myself, the tact that you have chosen to take is completely unprofessional and is unbecoming of an establishment I have previously respected, even if it was a misguided attempt at what you may perceived as "justice."
Also, please feel free to address my original concerns... a bartender not being up to speed on the wines you're serving. I asked about them because I knew nothing about them and wanted to learn. And a mandatory 20% "gratuity" (not a gratuity if it's mandatory) for pouring a liquid into a glass. Thanks in advance.

My God, lady! This is from three months ago... get a hobby and stop feeding on negativity! Your obsession with my review is unhealthy.
Oh, and thanks for the apology for deriding my character when you were clearly either confused or just making up nonsense.
Again, since you don't seem to have a firm grasp of reality... my review is not anonymous. Do your due diligence. Additionally, I have reached out to speak with you. YOU HAVE NOT RESPONDED! And since you ask why I didn't ask to speak with a manager at the time, it's because there clearly wasn't one on duty. What kind of place staffs a new trainee without any supervision??? Aren't you the owner? Haven't I reached out to you??? I can show you the screen shots.
On an unrelated note... I agree with your social media posts that there are serious issues in our country, and that we need to support each other in addressing them. But holy moly do you seem to be allowing the emotional side of your brain to over power the logical side! Calm down and we can work together to overcome this BS. Your hyperbolic nonsense is counterproductive and only serves to entrench people. If you keep preaching intolerance in response to ignorance you're just going to make things worse for everyone.
P.S. Still amazed at you unprofessionalism... "coward," really?!?! Up your game for the benefit of everyone, including yourself.
Wonderful local wine bar. Delicious wine and knowledgeable staff. Their special events and wine classes in partnership with their wine store are also amazing. I've done Bulgarian/Serbian wine nights and wine school with empanadas. Both things were wonderful. Great spot for a chill night with a friend and I appreciate that you can bring a snack from Bow market to add with the wine. I'd personally recommend Buenas nearby!

There's something about Rebel Rebel - when you walk in it's like you're on a different plane. The world falls away and you're just meant to sit and enjoy some incredible wine in an incredible atmosphere. The staff are knowledgeable and ready to help you select the best option for your visit before you have to go back out in the real world ether. I always deeply enjoy my time and my beverages at Rebel Rebel. and I always snap a new photo of a decor I hadn't noticed before.

I was after some American wines by a glass but there wasn’t much choice, only 2 types and the rose/ red that I had was nothing to write home about. Very cute little courtyard though, enjoyed catching some sun.

small, thoughtful wine selection and knowledgeable staff! pretty atmosphere and especially good orange wines
I mean, wine was 5 stars.
Anyway, small intimate setting with outdoor seating as well. The wine stewards are attentive and knowledgeable. I felt like it was a neighborhood hang out as well, with several customers knowing the staff. Fun selections, the staff is helpful if you ate unsure, the crowd is diverse and fun. A great stop, as we did, before dinner or an event. It would also be great afterwards ! A definite find if you are looking for good wine with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Wheelchair accessibility: This might be a challenge as it is a small area. It can.get quite crowded

Wonderful service and great vibes from everyone here-especially Tori! They even have a unique non-alcoholic option-a floral kombucha. Sweet atmosphere and sweeter people :) a must-stop in Bow market

Popped in here for a couple glasses of wine on Saturday midday. They have a decent selection but wish they had more variety of skin contacts/orange. Overall would definitely come back. It can get very busy on weekend nights.

Overrated and overpriced for the quality of the product and service. The wines were ok. But to call yourself a wine bar and serve the wine in plastic cups (there are different glasses for different types of wine for a reason) and at n’importe quelle température is just I got a gamay served ice cold, and when asked what I thought after the tasting was poured, was told that the cellar temperature simply feels cold because of the temperature outside… it was just pretty disappointing. And then to automatically add a 25% tip for simply pouring a glass and not even offering something else after the wine was served clearly too cold ? just not a great impression. The Bow Market ambiance redeems it but next time I’ll go to the brewery.

Great for happy hour or an after dinner drink. Funky natural wines and ciders, mostly.
Kid-friendliness: It's not.

honestly great wine and i would love to support this local woman-owned business but the employees are consistently rude and definitely the opposite of friendly. i don’t understand why they have such a rude attitude to their customers (especially since gratuity is included)

Even at their busiest, the awesome folks at Rebel Rebel will always talk me through what I want as someone who doesn't know anything about wine. They are always willing to pour samples and make sure I'm happy with what I've got. Whether I stay in their space or wander around Bow, I love the vibes.

For overpriced plastic cups of wine, condescending recommendations, 20% mandatory tips, and SJW man-hating, this is your place.
