I just did a take out order for Tatte Bakery and cafe since we are staying at The Row hotel near Tatte bakery.

We got a prosciutto fig panini , blueberry beet ricotta salad, warm oatmeal, traditional shakshuka, Jerusalem bagel, and a short rib grilled cheese.

The prosciutto fig panini and the beet salad are REALLY good. The warm oatmeal was way too sweet for my tastes (the ginger syrup is super sweet). The shakshuka (traditional) was also very good but a bit spicy (which I am a bit allergic to spicy foods). The Jerusalem bagel was dry and just tasted like bread with sesame seeds in it (we didn’t like it much and ended up throwing it out). The short rib grilled cheese was very good (my son devoured it :).

We also got several cappuccino’s. Their coffee is VERY good.

Overall-all the food is pretty good.

Would I go there again ? Yes. But I would probably ask them to put the syrup for the warm oatmeal in the side. Next time I will probably get more cappuccino’s too (they were really good :)

I ordered a breakfast plate and asked the person ringing me up to change to poached egg to scrambled eggs. They told me they can’t do it and that poached eggs was my only option. In the effort to not be difficult, I ordered the plate and tried to eat it. Got the plate, I couldn’t stomach a runny egg today so I went back to the counter and asked to purchase a side of scrambled eggs in addition to the plate I already paid for. They told me no, “There’s no way to order a side of eggs without ordering an entire new plate with it.”

I understand that modifications and substitutions are stressful for a kitchen that only has the chosen ability to pump out what’s on the menu — but asking for a side of scrambled eggs, which to be honest, is probably already cooked and in a heated bin, didn’t seem like it would disrupt the kitchen. When I ordered, the restaurant was quieter and it really didn’t seem like an issue.

Just wanted to share my experience because it doesn’t seem like great customer service to be denied food you’re asking to pay for.

I’ve been in the area for about four weeks and have visited this bakery six times so far. Since there aren’t many coffee shops around, I chose this one because the coffee is really good, and they have a wide variety of baked goods. The quality of what they offer is great, but the service is honestly terrible.

I’ve had three bad experiences with the staff, and while I don’t want to generalize, I’ve noticed they can be rude, especially toward tourists.

The first time, I ordered an Americano for here. When the barista handed it to me, she accidentally spilled some but acted like nothing happened. I saw it and pointed it out, asking her to put it in a paper cup instead. She did, but while pouring, she spilled it again. This time, she completely ignored it and just walked away to continue her work. Since it was my first visit, I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, so I let it go.

The second time, I was waiting at the counter to order, and the cashier acted like I wasn’t even there. She attended to other customers, and when it was my turn, she just walked away without saying anything. Since I was new to the place, I didn’t know if I was supposed to order from somewhere else or just wait. Thankfully, a kind staff member wearing a headband noticed and took my order.

The third time, after getting my coffee, I went to check out the baked goods. There was an item without a label, so I asked the staff member what it was. She looked really annoyed, like she didn’t want to bother answering, which made me feel uncomfortable. I didn’t want to deal with that attitude, so I just skipped ordering anything and settled for my coffee.

I get that working long hours can be tiring, and I’m not expecting them to be overly friendly. But at the very least, basic customer service should be there. A simple acknowledgment, answering a quick question, or handling an order properly isn’t too much to ask.

The coffee and baked goods are genuinely good, but the service takes away from the experience. If the staff were more welcoming, this place could be a go-to spot.

The food at Tatte is great—everyone knows that. But the service here is consistently disappointing. The staff is far from friendly.

How hard is it to make an extra hot latte? Come on, guys! I always order the same thing: an extra hot decaf pistachio latte. Yet, it’s almost never extra hot.

I’m writing this review because I recently had a really bad experience. I specifically ordered decaf, like always, but my drink wasn’t. I only realized when I started experiencing symptoms of caffeine. This is especially upsetting because I’m avoiding caffeine while breastfeeding, as my baby is very sensitive to it.

That latte in the afternoon caused major issues with my baby’s sleep that night. Baristas need to pay attention when someone requests decaf—it’s often for an important reason. This level of carelessness is not okay. 🫠😵‍💫😣

Also, lately it’s almost impossible to buy the plain croissant in the afternoon, it’s always out of stock!

I love Tatte, I’ve been coming since 2021 and never disappoint me until today. I went to the Assembly Row location and ordered the same thing I usually order: 2 turkey sandwiches one with sourdough for my wife. The girl at the counter was very nice and asked her manager (who was seated behind) and she said no, I said I usually get that same order, then she (the manager) came to me in a very rude way and told me they never do that, I tried to explain the same and she just say no and left. I’ve been working in the hospitality industry for 10+ years. If she’s the manager she needs to learn how to deal with people. This was not about the food but her terrible attitude and way to handle things.

First coffee spot of 2025! They were open on New Years Day normal hours and we were excited to start 2025 off right with a hot cup of joe and delicious pastries!

This was within walking distance of our hotel but we drove over since we were on the way out of town and found free parking in the garage across the street.

It was pretty crowded around 1pm when we arrived- must have been the lunch rush- but we didn't wait too long and almost placed an order online for in store pickup but ended up ordering at the counter.
We ordered a latte, americano, danish, chocolate chip cookie, and coffee caramel mousse.

We were given a number and found a seat at the end of a long communal table. The space is light and bright, open concept, plenty of small two tops and window seating as well.

Our drinks took a little longer than expected to come out but they were worth the wait. The caramel mousse was delicious- smooth, creamy, and sweet, and the cookie tasted good too. I'm not a fan of danishes but it was alright!

This was an enjoyable place to have our first coffee of the year. Good coffee, good food, standard pricing. I would definitely return to try more food and/or brunch!

Of all the Tattes I've visited, this is the only downright inhospitable location I've seen. Freezing temperatures in winter (turn on the heat) + condescending management to multiple patrons. Something is wrong here. Food is consistent with other locations, however. Price point is fair for Boston.

Don’t usually leave bad reviews but this was warranted. Took 30 minutes to get a single hot coffee, which wasn’t even made correctly in the end. Kept getting told by rude staff to ask their co-worker instead of taking 30 seconds to pour a hot coffee. Only to then be brushed off by their co-worker and be directed to the first person I spoke to. The level of pretentiousness from the staff is a great way to lose business.

This place has standard Tate goods including good coffee, wide variety of baked goods, and a good brunch menu. This place can be really really busy though. So prepared to be in line and prepared to wait to find sea openings.

My favorite light bite is the halloumi egg sandwich and my favorite big plate is the lamb shakshuka.

Overall, it's a very nice place to be! I enjoy their food, and the staff members are generally kind. However, I’ve noticed some issues with the staff who take orders. For instance, they often make mistakes. Recently, I had an unpleasant experience where I was ignored despite being the first in line. When I mentioned this issue to a staff member while placing my order, they seemed indifferent and didn't address the matter. It's interesting how staff members from this popular chain restaurant handle 'service.' Tatte should consider addressing the professionalism of some of their staff members.

Its incredibly busy there often so it's overwhelming for me personally. The displays are always beautiful and the interior design is posh but approachable. The front doors are quite heavy and difficult to open, you might need help if you're disabled or elderly. Seating can be hard to find and food is surprisingly very filling (but sadly upsets my tummy.) The workers there are always so pleasant and try their best form you no matter how busy it is! I like their hot teas and treats.

Kid-friendliness: I see children there often, many families. The occasional well behaved dog.

Wheelchair accessibility: The doors are heavy so you might need assistance evening them. The entrance is flat so you can wheel right in and there's no stairs. It's an open layout so there's plenty of room between tables and seats and the seats are moveable. The front counter and self serve tables are reachable since they're low.
