This is such a delightful place to come for a drink, a meal, and a date night. The Eaves is a terrific setting for an intimate 2 or 3 person evening. The entrance is a bit tough to find in Bow Market - though after entering, it's to hide the high quality atmosphere that's inside.
We got drinks after being seated and we're impressed by the flavor of drinks indicative of a cosmopolitan feel.
The food was most impressive. The spice level was very high and was balanced with the wonderful flavours provided. The vegetarian salad was a good starter, followed by ceviche and finally, the duck. That duck is still something I am thinking about - tender, juicy, and with just enough spice that makes me want more.
Our service complemented a wonderful evening. The staff were always attentive to our needs, happy to answer questions, and ensure we had a great time. Though it's a bit pricey, The Eaves deserves 5 stars, a bigger place, and another visit from us and others. Thank you for such a great time and hope to come again soon!

Found this gem via Resy and would highly recommend! I would sit at the bar so you can be a part of the experience. Everything was delicious from the cocktails to the entree! It’s in the lower level back right inside so part of the fun is finding it haha

As a longtime fan of Cicada, The Eaves was a letdown. Our server told us that as a thank you for joining them that our drinks would be complimentary - this was lovely and unexpected but when the bill came the charge for the drinks was included which made us feel awkward (we just paid for them). The drinks were interesting but unbalanced. Recommend against the lemongrass clams - they were sandy and a few tasted rancid. The ginger salad with chicken confit was flavorful but had some bones in it that we had to spit out. The duck was by far our favorite dish - the duck was delicious and beautifully cooked, and the broth was amazing (the meatball itself was dry and flavorless). Overall, a bummer - we went to HotBox after and ate a pizza.

I have to say, this place pleasantly surprised me! I’ve gone to sister restaurant Cicada, and was unimpressed by portions and overall taste profile for most of the dishes. The papaya salad, fish tartare, and Key West main dish at The Eaves were generously seasoned, creative and tastefully presented—much better than the experience I had at Cicada (though that was a while ago and it could be different now!) Clams were just okay. The Whisper of the Heart cocktail was impressively balanced!
Vegetarian options: There are some vegetarian options on the menu, though the overall menu is small!

If you’re planning a date night stop now and make a reservation.Cozy quarters with meticulous artistic expression. You’re going to be transported mostly importantly by the food and cocktails. The whisper of the heart was phenomenal but I’m a fan of egg whites. Our table of four tried something different for each person - all thumbs up.We took our fantastic server’s advice and tried everything (thank you Jennie!). For 3 entrees I had a hard time handing out a bronze. The Mekong delta edged out as #1 but it’s a tenuous supremacy.recommend

Perfect little date spot. Cozy atmosphere and friendly knowledgeable staff. Delicious food & drinks! We loved the seafood tartar appetizer the most! We also enjoyed the corn & shrimp dish and Key West entree. We tried their new Violet cocktail which was very Spring - with coconut, a little bubbly, citrusy but not too sweet. Also loved whisper of the heart cocktail.

One of the best restaurants I've been to in recent years! Every dish was herbaceous, balanced, and beautifully plated. Had a great cocktail as well.Note for those sensitive to fragrance, one of the rare restaurants that burns incense.

Checked out The Eaves, nestled inside Bow Market. Being a new spot, we were eager to see what it was all about. The place has a cozy vibe with limited seating, which definitely adds a unique touch and a bit of personality to the dining experience. It's a Vietnamese fusion joint that serves up small tapas-style dishes.
We sampled a variety of items from the menu. While everything was presented beautifully and the service was top-notch, the flavors didn't quite hit the mark for us. It felt like the dishes were toned down a bit, possibly to cater more to American palates, resulting in a somewhat muted taste profile. Overall, loved the atmosphere and the concept, but the food left us wanting a bit more punch.

Great restaurant and I’ll be coming back. Resembles a speakeasy while still representing that it’s a Vietnamese restaurant. We nearly missed the restaurant since we couldn’t find the entrance, but it’ll just be where they have the red rope closing off the entrance and a menu.
Ambiance is top tier. It’s where the kitchen is half the restaurant, but it’s really warm and cozy especially with the decor. There’s only seating for maybe 20 people at any given time.
We had nearly everything. I recommend the duck gyozas, the nghệ (fish noodle soup with a light sour broth), clams, and tartar though that’s literally everything I had. My favorite dishes by far were the tartar (spicy and minty) and the duck gyozas. The portion sizes were on the smaller sizes compared to regular restaurants, so you should treat each dish a tasting experience.
Drinks were great. I had whisper of the heart and a sake. Being at the bar is just so fun - you’re immersed in the decorations and the bartender (also owner) is a pleasure to talk to!

Cozy place. All the food we had was delicious. The drinks we had were great! I love the decoration and atmosphere. We got the duck gyoza and the fish tartare for appetizers. For the entree we got the grilled duck breast and meatball and Mekong Delta with the green of the wood mushroom instead of fish.

We enjoyed the quaint, intimate ambiance and the delicious, flavorful, well balanced food here and are glad we went. The small wine list is well-curated and we enjoyed our drink choices. With a couple of easy tweaks this could become a 4.5 or 5 for me.First, just please filter your water! A simple carbon filter setup would get rid of the noxious and strong chlorine smell of "fresh" Somerville tap water. Either that or let the carafes of water sit for a couple of hours before serving. The smell was strong enough to interfere with the aroma of the wonderful food.Second, as others have said, the high top stools are backless and very uncomfortable. We might have stayed for dessert or another round of drinks if we weren't so uncomfortable by the end of the meal.Third, better communication from servers about expectations timing of plates. For two of us, we ordered 2 small plates and 2 entrees. The small plates came out one at a time, which is fine since we were planning to share anyway. But we were expecting the entrees to come out together and they came out almost 10 minutes apart. If that's the plan, you need to let guests know even entrees are served one at time for sharing and ask if that's ok! Not everyone can share plates due to dietary restrictions and it's just a matter of communication.
