Service and communication were poor. Quantity and quality of food were not great either. And the staff forced us to give extra tip with a very rude tone!

The waiter forced us to pay 15% tip for 2 dishes, even when the food and the service weren’t great! In fact you’ve to buy rice separately, plus the quantity was less for the money.

We were a party of two and ordered two dishes and rice. At the end of the dinner, our waiter told us that the minimum tips amount was 15%. The service was below average, the food was ok.

Best Chinese food ever! I ordered chicken and broccoli, amazing! Also ordered orange chicken (medium heat) another amazing dish! Tender chicken, but not greasy. I ordered and paid online directly through their website and picked up myself. Order was ready on time, staff friendly and accommodating. 5

Zoe's Chinese Restaurant, in my view, falls short of its 4.6-star rating. While it offers a decent Chinese dining experience, it's far from exceptional. The portions are small, the prices are steep, and surprisingly, rice isn't included. For those seeking more flavor and better value for their money, I'd recommend checking out Dumpling House on Massachusetts Avenue – you won't be disappointed.

Zoe's is one of my favorite restaurants in the area - the food is excellent. I've been coming here for decades. They specialize in Szechuan and Hunan food but have a large menu covering a broader swath of Chinese cuisine.Vegetarian options: Many vegan and vegetarian options.
We ordered take out based on positive reviews, this was a mistake. I'm not sure what reviewers are raving about? I actually mentioned on my way home that I couldn't smell the food in my car. Normally, Chinese food has a pleasant, distinct, familiar smell. The Chow foon was a soggy mess, and paying extra for the beef didn't help it. Hot and sour soup was kind of salty, with a mild taste of pepper, and no sour, not enjoyable to eat. The spicy tofu was not spicy and had the same general gravy taste everything else had. This is not a traditional "American" Chinese food place. They are trying to cover too many categories to please everyone, and not focusing on making just a few great dishes. We did order Egg Foo Yong, off menu, and it was the best thing, but the gravy was just more of the same gravy used in everything else. Too bad, it is a cute place and the woman at the counter was nice.

My go to for Sichuan specialties for years. We always order the Ma Po Tofu and the spicy Sichuan dumplings. A recent delight was the dry fried beef.

We were there last night, and we got: a SMALL seafood and pickle soup and a vegetarian noodle soup. The portions were huge, and it was really good. They were very nice as well.

This place is amazing! I used to live very close to here when I first moved to the Boston area and it became a staple restaurant for me and friends to either get takeout or dine in. I make an effort to take visitors here if we get a chance because honestly I think the food is better than anything I've had in Chinatown. I swear if they did steamed dumplings, I wouldn't even bother going to Boston. The Crab Rangoon is my favorite appetizer along with Schezuan dumplings. The pastry is delicious and the filling has a great flavor. I love the flavor and spiciness of the dumplings. You can get more American Chinese dishes or the authentic stuff. Everything is delicious and the place never disappoints.
