Baystate Pizza is a true hidden gem. Don't come expecting fancy decor or the like. The wallpaper is early 70s and there are only 2 booths. It's mostly locals, and is mainly takeout. Unlike chain sandwich shops, your deli meat is sliced in front of you, the bread made locally and is fresh then toasted in an old oven. I've been coming here since my early 20s for pastrami grinders and cheese fries. Mike and Nondis are the proprietors... twin brothers who after all these years, I'm finally able to tell them apart. The menu is simple and posted up behind the counter. I believe they are noted for the pizza, pastrami grinders and the cheese fries. I also love their bacon cheeseburgers. This visit I was picking up food for a men's softball team. The guys raved over the steak and cheese with peppers and onions, the Italian grinders and simple ham and cheese. Baystate pizza is my go-to for grinders! I don't live in Springfield any longer, but it's still worth the trip to go up Bay Street for my pastrami and cheese grinders!!! This establishment is CASH ONLY!

Been coming here since I was a kid. It's a hidden gem in Springfield and has the best food in the McKnight area.
One of the oldest pizza shop in Springfield been in the same place for 40 years go by and say hello trying to make him move
