Stand alone Shower and separate claw foot bathtub. No refrigerator. Bit noisy from street. Showing its age.
Nearby activities: Rockwell museum was our main focus
Food and drinks: On the pricey side

We ordered off an overpriced snack menu; yet eally slow service for food
, and really wierd service, too. Attempting to eat charcuterie out of a plastic box was gross. No plates for charcuterie meant I was kind of eating it off the table- gross as it was not particularly clean. The seafood charcuterie came with a can if something covered in mesh with no tool; I pulled out my pocketknife from my purse to open it. It's camping and not the glamorous kind. We were there at 3 PM, and other people around us also received plastic boxes. Gross and disgusting presentation. Way overpriced. Not fancy, not pleasant. The plastic and no plates was the worst.
We wanted a short break driving across states after a funeral. We waited a long time. People kept interrupting our much-needed break to ask us where the bar is and other stuff because it's unclear when one comes in.
The woman's bathroom is a long, long way away from the eating area, (the men's restroom is close by, go figure), so I was stumbling around with seafood charcuterie on my hands through crowds milling about for a while before I could find it. It was really uncomfortable.
Charming decor, though. Maybe they just give up on food service and focus on being a museum?
We stayed at the Inn last fall, booked a suite for myself and 3 friends. While the Inn is lovely, there were several things that left me feeling like it was not worth the money.
The first night we arrived at dinner time, and decided to eat at the Inn. The prices and portions were extreme opposite - ridiculously expensive and with tiny portions and mediocre quality. For 3 people and only 2 meals - one a dry turkey sandwich, another was a vegetarian entree, a shared salad, 2 tiny glasses of wine, and a tiny slice of pecan pie we paid $140! I am well aware of prices eating out, but I was stunned. If it had been excellent quality and decent portions, I wouldn't be writing this review.
The suite was was ok, and knowing it's an old inn, we didn't expect a luxury room, but for the $500+ per night rate they charge, it was not worth the money. There was also a reduced rate at that time, and even though I'd booked way in advance, but they refuse to change the rate, regardless of specials.
Last issue - there were 4 of us, and we specifically left on the Do Not Disturb as we had a lot of belongings in the room and didn't want it cleaned. Not only did they ignore it and clean, but they put the pull out sofa bed away (which was hard to open) removed the extra blanket we'd taken off the bed as there were no blankets in the room for the sofa bed, and moved our stuff around. We spent almost $1400 for TWO nights, which is close to Ritz rates, and expected way better.
Lovely town, relaxing stay, enjoyed the open area in the main floor in the evening, but will never stay at the Inn again.

Some of the rooms are old, dirty and not up to par. I'm talking about room 2 in the O'Brien bldg. Broken glass in the window, dirty window sills, and broken shades.
The other issue was the ice storm. I saw a small amount of ice melt but barely any sand. The paths were covered in some places with 3" of ice. There wasn't anyone out there trying to break the ice up either.
It was ridiculous. I saw an older couple trying to get to the back door of one of the houses and it didn't look good.
I fell last night. I have a very bruised knee.
You have to do better.
Edit: not impressed with your response. I expect a phone call as the front desk assured me would occur.
I cannot any put any weight on my knee.

We enjoyed our stay at the historic Red Lion Inn. The Inn did not disappoint in the area of ambiance, and quaintness. The Inn holds a beautiful, and elegant state of appearance in every regard. We found the suite to be accommodating and more than abundant for our needs. The comfort of the room and bed were top tier. We have zero complaints about that.
Our main issue was that lack of assistance w/ our dining reservations. Ed, the gentleman that checked us in seemed to matter of factly brush off any attempt to find us reservations for the restaurant and mentioned they were already “fully committed.” We’ve never stayed in this town and had no clue that there’s only one restaurant. In their defense, they recommend reservations in their pre-trip email. So, I’ll take the credit on that side of it.
However, we were forced to drive 10-15 mins to Lee, to dine elsewhere. We stayed at the Inn with the intention of “staying” at the Inn. That lack of accommodation felt haughty, and not something we are interested in engaging.
Second issue was related to parking and luggage. For those who opt to stay here, you’re likely going to be dragging your luggage a football fields length through mud, unless you want to block traffic/cars. The restaurant shares parking w/ the Inn guests so it’s first come, first served. Unfortunately, we came in at dinner time and that was rough. One wide open lot says “Guests Towed”, so I would avoid that section.

To be clear, this is a review of the Red Lion Inn's restaurant, I could not find a spot to review the restaurant independent from the Inn. The quality of the food at this restaurant is mediocre to poor. One of the appetizers was good (croquette), but the tea egg was bland and odd. For mains, the duck was tough and rubbery, its skin and fat were chewy (not crispy) and the meat wasn't seasoned properly. The special, bucatini with lemon sauce and shrimp, tasted like unseasoned cleaning product. Cocktails were average. Had the newly fashioned (take on old fashioned) - wasn't the worst old fashioned, but it also wasn't the best. Too much crushed ice and lazy wedges of oranges randomly placed on top. Service was pretty good, although I was thirsty through most of the meal, and asked if I wanted another drink when I was almost done the main dish. Incredibly disappointing despite the hilariously high price tag. Save your hard earned money for better quality food elsewhere.

We had lunch there Sunday the 19th . Our bill was $72 , including tip. The special was salmon burgers, we ordered two , a glass of wine and a ginger ale . They were served blackened , burned, and very dry . Very disappointing from an icon inn.
We opted to book a room in the Maple Glen House just a few doors down from the Red Lion Inn for a low-key vacation between Christmas and New Year's. Our room on the main floor was spacious, the bed quite comfy, and very clean. loved the heated floors, in-room Nespresso Machine, etc. The Maple Glen has a fully-equipped kitchen and living room/dining room, which are very well-appointed and welcoming. Easy walking distance to everything, including mere steps away from the Main Red Lion Inn. It was very easy to park behind the building.
We had dinner in the Inn one night and good thing we had a reservation as it was packed. We enjoyed our meal in the tavern and had very good service. For busy times of the year, Stockbridge has limited options for dining, so consider making reservation/s ahead of time if you want to dine in the Red Lion Inn. Parking behind the building was plentiful.
The Shop Around the Corner via the Red Lion Inn lobby had lots of interesting things - very colorful and festive, and a friendly staff. We went into the Township Four store also in the Red Lion to peruse the home goods and floral offerings. Although we found their offerings to be beautiful and unique, the staff engagement could best be described as indifferent on both visits, to our surprise. This comment should in no way deter a stay/visit to the Red Lion, however.

I had pot roast for lunch last week at the Red Lion. I was disappointed. I have enjoyed pot roast in many other restaurants. The post roast that was served to me was more like a meal in a low-end school cafeteria. I expect better from the Red Lion..

We went for Christmas Dinner 12/25/24 and were very dissapointed in the meal. In prior years either bread of pop overs were at the table. When asked we were provided 2 cold pop overs. The fish was a very small portion and partially cooked. We have been coming here over the past 30 + years. Needles to say I will not be coming again.

This was our first time in the town, and the hotel was super disappointing. I want to note that I’ve stayed at a variety of old inns and understand the quaint feel, but this was not it.
This place is in need of major renovations. Ceilings peeling, large stains on all their rugs (which are everywhere), chipped sinks and bathtubs, hot water took forever to come on, huge cobwebs on ceilings, etc. I wasn’t traveling with my kids this time, but if I was, I would have left right away, as it is not safe for kids to be crawling on their floors with chipping lead paint and the filth of the rugs.
On top of all that, there was a booked event in the hall- that we were not told about and we were unable to use the restaurant. When I asked the front staff about why we weren’t informed she said that she made calls to everyone prior on Wednesday and we booked Thursday. We weren't told about it upon booking on Thursday and even asked if we’d like to make a reservation for the restaurant, implying it was open. Basically our time suffered due to poor management issue.
We spent 600 dollars for one night- and that is absolutely absurd for the state of the room as well as not being able to utilize their restaurant. We were supposed to stay two nights and made it one. We did ask the front desk if there was anyway to compensate for the inability to utilize the restaurant as well as the state of the rooms and she refused and was very condescending.
I’m wondering if some of the rooms are updated and that is why some of the reviews are good ones, but we were in regular hotel room top floor, room 422 and it was shockingly in disrepair. The hotel feels like a two star motel versus 4 star hotel
I hope someone is able to revamp it and bring back its charm, but it’s not there right now.

Just visited for Thanksgiving dinner. We drove 2+hours for what we thought was a family style dinner, when we checked in we were told our table would be just a few (and it was) when dinner started it was Ala Carte small portions. We seen all the tables around us getting bread
This review is about the restaurant only as we did not stay in the hotel. I ordered the Tautog fish dish, which came with the equivalent of two cherry tomatoes, two baby boiled peeled potatoes, and one baby carrot cut in half with absolutely no salt or seasoning. The fish was dry and flavorless. I came home after that meal and had to cook myself dinner, disappointed that I spent $39 on what felt like a flavorless cardiac meal at a hospital. On the plus side, the rest of my family enjoyed their meal (which included two dishes off the kids menu).
Last time we went to eat we walked in main door and the lobby REAKED OF DOG URINE!!! I asked the front desk how often they clean the several big rugs and they had no answer. The urine stinks near the restaurants as well!!!!
