Just waited at the drive through window for 9 minutes (16 minutes total in the drive through line) for 2 scones, that I ordered on the app 11 minutes before getting in line. They were sitting at the window waiting to be handed to me while numerous workers walked by, chatted, and saw to other tasks. As the cherry on top, no apology or excuse was offered. The worker just gave me an angry face, I can only assume this was in response to the expression I had on my face. Done with this place. I’ll find somewhere else when I’m in this area.

Saturday morning, 9/14/24: This appeared to be a new Panera Bread. It was near our motel and even closer to the I-84 West ramp. So we were looking forward for a quick breakfast and then hitting the road. But the bright, exciting, early Saturday morning service sucked!

There were only 2 or 3 customers in the place. We placed our breakfast order without any problem. But then we were told our order will take a while because they were “really backed up this morning.”

“How could that be?” I responded. “There’s no one here! Only 2 or 3 people!”

Their response? They had a bunch of online orders plus catering! So we waited 2 or 3 times as long as would be expected for an empty Panera! But my frustration didn’t end there.

Two bites into my bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, I discovered I didn’t have any scrambled egg on the sandwich. So I took it back. More delay. More waiting.

It seems pretty sad, that early on a Saturday morning, with only 3 or 4 customers in the entire store (counting ourselves) Panera can’t get a simple, two sandwich order right! There’s no telling how messed up their catering order(s) will be! Screw their regular, walk-in customers on whom they built their business over the last couple of decades.

This morning’s experience was a far cry from my first introduction to The St Louis Bread Company 30 years ago in the St Louis area.

Wow, awful. I stopped here for a Mediterranean Veggie sandwich. Took 15 minutes to get it and as I watched the "Track Your Order" display board no less than four names ordered after me jumped ahead of me. Since some of them were substantial orders I take it you need to order big to get decent service.

The sandwich itself was every bit as bad as the service. The crust on the bread was so tough I literally couldn't chew it. While most of the veggies were okay the cucumber was clearly overgrown so had zero flavor.

Do yourself a favor, go to Subway or D'Angelo's if your looking for a decent sandwich.

This is your typical Panera shop, which you can find anywhere in the country, but what made this one stand out more than the others, was the wonderful lady taking your counter orders. What surprised us the most was how she knew almost everyone by name when they came through the front door. We were staying at the Holiday Inn, which shares the same parking lot, so we came in each morning for coffee and bagels. I told her how impressed I was with her and the 2nd and 3rd day I came through that door; she greeted me with my name. All I can say is, she is an asset to Panera, and they should reward her accordingly. It was such a pleasure to meet someone of her character, especially now-a-days. As for the restaurant, plenty of free parking, very clean and well maintained shop and the food and coffee met what we have come to expect from Panera.

The slowest fast food ever. Three people making sandwiches, one at a time. Not 3 being made, 3 people making one. Took 20 minutes for mine to come out and I was one of two people here.
