It was like being over a friend's house for dinner. A friend whose a damn good cook. She cooks...you eat, simple. Teresa is a terrific host, fabulous cook, with the greatest sense of humor. Fellas, if you want to take your girl out for a fun, old fashion, but at the same time unique dining experience to remember, you'll love Café Avellinos. There's no menu, like I said, she cooks...you eat. You'll love it.
OMG this was the best night out. My son & I decided to stop & eat instead of sitting in traffic on our way home. He had heard about this restaurant & how the atmosphere was very laid back.
Well, you walk in and you feel like you entered someone's home. You were welcomed like you were a long lost friend & ready to rekindle lost memories and to make new ones. You ate what she prepared and the authenticity of the food, preparation, presentation and comradery of the owner made this a go to place for anyone looking for that personal touch and just a great place to feel at home while away from home. Teresa will make your evening a night to remember. This was our first visit but not the LAST!
Looking for an intimate & memorable place to take your sweetheart? Call to make that personal reservation for an evening you won't forget!

Cafe Avellino was a gift to my daughter and me! We were in Swampscott and very hungry at 5 PM. We saw this cute cafe, looked it up and the menu was also cute! Teresa greeted us warmly , and that began the most wonderful dining experience. This is a true European evening. You feel like you’re in her home kitchen. There is no menu; she will bring you what she feels you will enjoy. We started with my absolute favorite; eggplant rollatini, with marscapone, and an amazing tomato sauce. This was followed by bruschetta, made with a potato bread , with veggies and the most delicious olive oil. Then an escarole soup with beef broth, celery and all delicious. We were then served pasta that was like none other I’ve had. I won’t describe it, because I’ve been sworn to secrecy. ☺️ The next course was chicken cutlets with a red sauce, followed by a palate cleanser of cucumbers. To end it in the most perfect way, we got a mini cannoli each.
All of this was served tapas style, with time in between. Each course was small batch. Of course we got cannolis to bring home.
The other patrons were so friendly and it was so much fun!
I highly recommend!

Just go. It’s more than dinner, it’s an experience. The food is incredible but Teresa is a gem. You’ll feel right at home and Teresa makes everyone feel special. Cafe Avellino will be our first stop when we come back. We came for the food but we’ll be back for Teresa (and the food because we’re not dummies!!).
(I didn’t take many photos of the food because I was too busy shoveling it in - it’s that good!) What a treasure Avellino is for Swampscott.

Teresa who is the owner and chef is awesome. We loved the fact that she is the chef and she chooses what to serve for dinner. All her dishes have fresh herbs and it truly was the best red sauce I have ever tried. We will defiantly be back.
This place was great! We were visiting from out of town and found this place just down the street from where we were staying. The owner was great. Such a fun atmosphere and such great food. There wasn’t one thing we didn’t like. Would highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

The sangria was quite nice for an afternoon of chilling.
Best Cannoli, better than Mikes Pastries, I would rate more stars if I could ❤️
Amazing small little. Fully run by the head chef herself who is exceedingly friendly. She'll make sure you're fully accommodated!
UNBELIEVABLE, OMG . I can not even give Teresa enough stars . Blew my mind. Girl power !!!!!!! Thank you for making this day so special 💗
If you are willing to pay for entertainment, this place is like Dicks. There are no prices on the menus and actually there's no lunch or dinner menu items. You'll be served cheap stuff and charged a lot with no detail. I gave it two chances. Both a shake down. Too bad, there are not a lot of restaurants on that stretch of the shore. Just go for a drink and ask for the price first.
