Five stars. Definitely worth checking out.
My wife and I stopped into Njord Haven after it caught our attention as a Nordic–Asian fusion spot, which we had never seen before. The concept alone piqued our interest, and after seeing some strong reviews, we decided to give it a try. We’re really glad we did.
The food was excellent. Portions were well-sized, everything felt thoughtfully prepared, and while some of the Nordic-inspired items were a little outside our usual comfort zone, everything worked together really well and tasted great. My wife especially loved the bok choy, and I was a big fan of the drunken noodles.
One standout for us was the “Flying Jacob” Swedish egg rolls. The combination of chicken breast, bacon, banana, Havarti cheese, creamy curry, pineapple chutney, and cashew sounds unusual on paper, but it came together far better than you’d expect. Super interesting and genuinely delicious.
The cocktails were solid, though slightly on the sweeter side than our personal preference. Not overly sweet, and I’m sure many people would enjoy them, just something worth noting.
We also asked our server for recommendations and got a cheerful “everything,” which gave us a laugh. That said, for a concept that’s newer to many people, it could be cool if servers highlighted a few go-to dishes to help introduce first-timers to Nordic flavors.
Overall, we had a great experience and would absolutely recommend Njord Haven, especially if you’re looking for something a little different but still very approachable. We’ll definitely be back.

One of the best dining experiences I’ve had…I’ve been multiple times and it just keeps getting better, the chef is wonderful and everything on the menu is beautifully crafted.
Visited this restaurant after a search on Google. I was intrigued by the combination of Nordic/Asian fusion menu. This spot is a gem that I wish I’d known about for longer.
From the welcoming and friendly staff to the interesting food options and overall flavors, this place is a must try. We enjoyed all of the 5 tapas style dishes we ordered. Our waiter Jose was very attentive and knowledgeable. He even made some suggestions on what to try. The Chef/Owner Don came out to the tables and introduced himself and ensured we were enjoying our meal. Will definitely be back!

We’re from Pennsylvania and stumbled across this place accidentally during our travels. The first time we were here, we just stopped for drinks as we had just had dinner. After looking at the menu, we quickly realized we wanted to come back.
A year later, we were back and excited to try this place. Everything we tried was incredible and extremely flavorful. The passion and care from the chef is evident as he stopped by our table multiple times to ask how it was, how we were, and to talk a little bit about his creations and background.
The food, drinks, and service are top-notch. If you want to step outside of your comfort zone and try something different, this is the place to go. Highly recommend. We will definitely come back every time we’re up this way.

My wife Rosie had originally wanted to celebrate her birthday at one of those gigantic steak houses. Early this morning, she expressed a preference for the subtler grandeur and glory to be experienced at Njord Haven in Swampscott.
While it is considered “tapas,” I’ve been to tapas restaurants that require five or more dishes to satisfy a couple. Njord Haven offers luscious food — with exceptional meats and eyes-rolled-back savory sauces — in portions that mean that four dishes comfortably bring a grin to both of us. The chef is just masterful and the waitstaff excellent. Rosie could have asked to eat anywhere. She and I both loved her decision — and will return again for additional master dinners. Just flavors to remember and think about hours later. Highly, highly recommended.

Amazing dinner experience! The food and drinks were incredible, the menu was diverse, and the price felt great for the quality. We really enjoyed everything we tried, but the Bali Beef Rendang was a stand-out dish. We also got to chat with the chef/owner Don at the end of the night which was lovely.
We are sad it took us so long to try here- will definitely be back!

Our local Priest recommended this restaurant for dinner, so my wife and I had dinner at the Njord Haven for the first time with my Fr. Frank. I usually don’t go to Asian Cuisine restaurants, so this was a first for me. Not only was I pleasantly surprised and impressed, but the menu was absolutely amazing…
I ordered a dish called “Crazy Drunken Noodles with Chicken, my wife ordered the same with Shrimp, and Fr Frank ordered an octopus dish. Owner/Chef Don Golden came over and welcomed us, chatted with us. We also had an Artichoke dish, and empanadas. Chef Don made me a special Salmon dish… I am not a seafood person, and have never tried salmon, so he made me a sample dish and made me try it. I was overwhelmed and could not believe how great it was, it was absolutely delicious. It was so good, that I ate the whole piece. My wife was very impressed that I ate it, and more importantly…. That I loved it.
I absolutely give this restaurant Five Stars and recommend everyone trying it… you will love it !!!

Njordhaven is hands-down our favorite local restaurant. The food and drinks are absolutely delicious—perfect for a date night, catching up with friends, or impressing out-of-town guests.
They’re also incredibly allergy-friendly. One of our close friends has celiac, and this is the one place she always asks to come back to. The Chef goes out of their way to make sure everything is completely safe for her to enjoy.
The service is just as impressive as the food. The Chef and staff are warm, welcoming, and always take time to greet guests and chat.
All around, it’s an amazing experience—great food, great people, and a guaranteed good time. Highly recommend!
