Fogo Island Bar and Grill, formerly TJs, is a great little Cape Verdean/Portuguese restaurant. The food is wonderful, served hot and full of flavor. The Portuguese soup is one of the best, and the Portuguese mussels are amazing. The shrimp Mozambique, steak with the egg, and grilled chicken sando with Mozambique sauce are all excellent. The food is delicious, with large portions and reasonable prices. The menu includes detailed descriptions of what the dishes and sauces are made of. The staff is great, friendly, and attentive. The service is attentive, and the chef wants to make sure everything is okay. However, the atmosphere has an identity crisis with plastic table clothes and cloth chair covers, giving off cheap event hall and sports bar vibes. It is also a little dark inside. Despite this, it is a wonderful place to gather with friends and a hidden gem not to be disappointed by.
