This was our third try at Beach Road and our third disappointing experience. While our raw oysters were superb, unfortunately, our main courses did not make the grade. We'll stick to State Road, which has always met or exceeded our expectations over the years.

Simply put = The best in Martha's Vineyard . .. the fried chicken, the yummiest you've ever consumed. New menu selections, new chef as of late March 2016= Beach Road is even better. If you have a discerning palate you must feast here :)

A great spot in Vineyard Haven. Like it's cousin State Road, it offers both comfort food (Hamburger, steak frites) and unique items like fresh fish of the day and Portuguese soup. The menu is large enough that you feel like you are given a multitude of options. There is a bar scene that allows folks to talk and have a nice glass of wine or a cocktail. Finally, we had the cookie box for dessert which offered fresh homemade cookies that were yummy.

Have eaten here a number of times so that means it's good! My only 'complaint' is that we arrived 20 minutes or so before our reservation and no table was ready. We wanted to sit and wait at the bar, have a drink, but the hostess told us we could not as they 'reserved' bar sears for walk in diners. She moved us to the entry way and offered to bring us a drink there. The entry way has only 2 small bench seats - not welcoming. I think they should have let us sit at the bar, or they should improve the entry way seating.

Very disappointing. Tough and bland pork schnitzel. Olive and nut dish tasted unseasoned. Bouillabaisse was like a thick potato soup - bizarre. But decent service, although she mispronounced the fish special. We love State Road so we were perplexed by the awfulness of this meal.

The most compelling thing about Beach Road is how it has been turned from a silk purse into a sow's ear. The former "Saltwater" restaurant was a light and airy jewel of a place, with a magnificent view, a terrific chef and an engaging staff. The ambiance was cheerful and romantic, fun and energetic. Unfortunately, Beach Road has inherited the "old barn" atmosphere of its sister restaurant "State Road," and as a result, all the other great qualities of the venue are sadly gone, except of course for the great view,. The food and service were fine, and better than last year. It is only for those who fondly remember Saltwater that Beach Road suffers in comparison.
