Jake n JOES Sports Grille - Waltham

Our server, Kevin has taken care of several large parties for me in the past. Once again, he did not disappoint. He was very attentive and provided an outstanding service!

We knew it was dangerous to go to watch a Celtics game on a Final Four night, and it was. First they changed one tv to the college game, and then another. But, they gave us a table near a Celtics screen and we were off and running. A perfectly poured Guinness, a tasty shrimp & avocado bowl for me and excellent chicken soup for my wife who wasn't feeling great. They've got what you need, even if you have to change tables...

Food was great! Unfortunately the service was terrible. Our waitress left in the middle of our meal and we had no idea. I had to go to the front desk to get my check. Other than that, it was a cool meal.

We haven't been there for quite some time and stopped in for a causal bite, drinks and to catch up with each other. We sat at the bar and our bartender was Julien. He was attentive, pleasant and ever so accommodating. He always came by when our drinks were low. The drink I wanted wasn't on the menu but he suggested how to make what I wanted. It came out perfect! His shaker skills were very strong, which is important in making the perfect drink. Not many bartenders do that. IMO, he was the best one there. All of,our food was yummy. I'm quite particular in what I eat; we normally frequent the higher end restaurants. We will definitely go back again.

I wish I could leave a review about the food, but unfortunately, we never even got that far. When we arrived, we stood at the front for 15 minutes before the hostess even acknowledged us. Once we were finally seated, we waited another 20 minutes—not a single server came by, not even to bring water. At that point, we decided it wasn't worth it and left. We went to Not Your Average Joe's instead, and the service there was night and day compared to Jake and Joe's. We were greeted promptly, seated right away, and had drinks within minutes. It's disappointing when a restaurant doesn't even make the effort to provide basic service, and based on this experience, I wouldn't bother coming back.

I got the pilgrim egg rolls. There was hardly any meat or stuffing in them. I did hear back from the manager, and he not only refunded the cost of the food, but gave me a gift card worth $25 to have a meal on them. That was very generous of him. Thank you very much.
