Poor service. We waited 20 minutes while they served two groups who arrived after us, and then we were left without seats—an obvious case of favoritism. The food was also average, lacking authenticity.

Due to construction on Moody street two doors down from the restaurant, we were 6 minutes late for our reservation for 9 people. When we arrived we were told that they had just given away our table, which was the only area that could accommodate a party our size. The host said we would have to sit at two separate booths. It was obvious that the guests that they had given our table away to had been there for at least some time, because the pots were boiling and the servers were bringing out their food as we spoke. The rest of the restaurant was empty so it was clear that the host had screwed up. But instead of apologizing for giving away our table he insisted that it was our fault that we didn’t arrive on time and that he had tables for us, we’d just need to sit separately. He shrugged his shoulders with the “oh well” demeanor. What perfect example of terrible customer service :shoulders shrugged:

Reservation was made for 9 people. We arrived just 5 minutes after our reservation time. The host stated the table that was reserved is already given to somebody else. The host said we can split up in seating, so what was the reason of making a reservation? The people who sat down at our reserved seats already had boiling pots and drinks. Which means they were seated way before our reserved time. Ridiculous customer service. Not worth any of your time and money.

This is the best restaurant on Moody! My wife and I came on a whim when they opened a few years ago. We have been coming almost monthly ever since. The food is fantastic. The variety is incredible. Service and atmosphere wonderful and inviting. And the drink menu is extensive, both in delicious cocktails and a sake list we are still working through to this date. Any time we have friends in town, we bring them to Shiki Shabu Shabu as a treat to ourselves and them. Casual dinner at the bar is fun and groups at tables is an experience. This is what Moody has been missing!

The food here was okay. The meats and vegetables are incredible (especially the meat!!), but all of the broths have been very okay, especially the miso--which lacked so much flavor and it tasted like pure sodium.

Pretty standard hotpot. A little pricey and not many choices for additions to your dipping sauce.

The approach here is simple. Take a family style Japanese hot pot and literally boil down to the essentials with the best fresh local ingredients with healthy ungreasy broths and adequate spice.

They offer spacious, late night dining with minimalist bamboo decor and a wide bar selection including harder to source Japanese whiskeys like Yamazaki, Hibiki.

Ambiance is quiet and clean with the uncrowded convenience of suburban parking. Can see this as a secret hidden gem especially cozying up to hearty fresh broths during inclement weather.

They even have fresh baby octopus and fresh seafood pastes!

Parking: Many nearby especially nights and weekends

I don’t typically give low reviews but this hot pot really didn’t hit the spot for me. The pros are that the food came out quickly and the service was good. However, the quality of the food wasn’t the best and you definitely don’t get your moneys worth in terms of quality and quantity. I also typically like to make my own dipping sauce at the sauce bar but that’s not available here. Variety of food items can also be expanded

Definitely on the expensive side, but the food is very good. You can get a shared pot or individual pots.

There seems to be a rise in shabu shabu places in MA. In terms of price it’s a bit expensive but the quality makes up for the price. Over all the food was good.
