Best South Indian place in New England. Period.
Edit: very bad wait list management at rush hour.

Chennai Eats is a hidden gem for anyone craving truly authentic South Indian flavors. The food is consistently fresh and bursting with the kind of taste that instantly transports you back home to India. Their appetizers, especially the idly and vada are spot on. It’s rare to find that level of authenticity for South Indian food here in Boston.
The biryanis are rich, aromatic, and satisfying. I have tried a few varieties so far and can’t wait to get my hands on their Hyderabadi Dum Biryani once it’s back in stock.
Prices are reasonable, though I do wish the portion sizes were a bit more generous. Still, the quality makes it worth every penny. The space itself is cozy with limited seating, so it can get crowded during peak hours.
My only gripe is with their online ordering system. The website estimates 20–30 minutes for pickup, but during busy lunch or dinner hours, it often takes longer once you arrive. I understand the rush, but it would be great if the wait times were updated more accurately to reflect real-time demand.
Overall, Chennai Eats delivers an exceptional culinary experience that’s hard to beat. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a taste of South India in the Boston area.

Great for bith dine-in and takeout. The manager?/owner? who is usually there is happy to explain unfamiliar dishes. Don't limit yourself to the usual tikka masala and aloo gobi, etc (though those are good here, too). Try something you might not be able to get at other area Indian restaurants! I really like the kuzhi paniyaram (white people equivalent = hush puppies, if hush puppies were flavorful) and the kothu parotta (comfort food like stuffing with gravy). Things that are meant to be hot and crispy are obviously best experienced in person, because takeout containers will steam them, so don't blame them for that! That said takeout is relatively quick and very accurate. All thrl dishes are piping hot and taste freshly made, with recognizable whole spices and quality ingredients.

Food is extremely authentic - this is coming from a food snob south Indian.
Salna and parotta - 5/5 . The goat was so tender, fell off the bone
Thalpakattu biryani- 5/5. Value for money for how much meat they give
Chicken 65 - 4/5. Flavor is great but can be served with more onions and some green chutney
Chicken Manchurian - 5/5

Had food poisoning once. But it happened only to me and not to others that were with me and only once. So I will be lenient and say, it might have been an exception. Food was very tasty though when it happened :) Place is nice and staff friendly, but small and cozy. Parking facility is not the best, but I have been able to find street parking relatively easy every time I have been there.

Placed an order for three goat biryanis and never got it. After waiting for over an hour, we called the restaurant, and they first said they never received the order, then later claimed they didn’t know why it wasn’t updated on DoorDash. Extremely unprofessional and confusing.
We were left waiting hungry for over an hour, only to find out there was no food coming — and instead of helping, they just asked what we wanted to do! Completely irresponsible and careless customer service.
If you’re hungry and want a reliable meal, do yourself a favor and avoid this place. You’ll only end up frustrated and disappointed. This was by far the worst experience ever, we’ll never order from here again.

Every meal we have had here has been absolutely delicious. It is now our “go to” place to bring family and friends, and our favorite place for takeout. Cannot recommend it enough!

If you haven't eaten here yet, you're missing out! I've eaten a lot of Indian food in the Boston area but this is by far the best I've had! We enjoyed Manchurian chicken, Saag Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala. I would have taken pictures except we ate it so fast because it was so delicious that I didn't have time! Service was very friendly and prompt. We decided to order enough so we could have leftovers. What a great idea that was! The food was just as good if not better the next day! I'm so happy to have a neighborhood restaurant so close to my home. We will be back many, many times!

Incredible and authentic flavors. The fish fry and goat biryani are to die for! Best biryani in Boston, hands down!
