This place now is lame. A bunch of overzealous and clueless yuppies must have taken over the helm and created an environment of overpriced food with no integrity. This place was a staple for years. They dont want the locals here evidently and that is what happens when you let yuppies and out of town delusional clowns with no clue take over an establishment. No bread to table for free. A la carte for average food sides and the entrees are way over priced. Good job on screwing up a family place that has been a staple for decades catering to an atmosphere of nothingness, no personality and a concentration on squeezing a dollar out of people in many ways. The new owners have no clue. You have alienated a customer base and overrall pleasant atmosphere to cater to an upscale standard when this place was never about that. This new philosophy is what is wrong with world today. Greed. You embrace the "ethos" pay more for less" when The Villa was the opposite forever before this recent transition.

My family has been going to the Villa for many years- decades in fact. My husband and I and friends have been frequenting approximately once a week for the past couple of years. Since the new ownership, the food has been inconsistent. At first, the food was excellent. We loved the fish and chips ( which has always been a favorite) with the option of sweet potato fries. It was very fresh, thick, and cooked perfectly. It was from Captain Marden's. Last night we had the fish and chips, and it was thin, heavily breaded, and dried out with the fishy flavor. Tasted frozen. The french fries had no flavor at all, and there was no option for sweet potato fries anymore. The pizza has been great for years, so I hope they don't change that. It is our go to. We love the basic salad, but they've also changed the homemade Italian dressing. The servers are always excellent and hustling, but sometimes there are just not enough servers and bartenders. The pasta with shrimp and scampi sauce is very good. The vegetarian lasagna was barely edible. It was very dry and strange. The chicken cacciatore was good about a month ago. The last time I ordered the fried scallops, back in December, they were not fresh tasting, and I was sorely disappointed. I hope the new owners read this because I'd love to see consistency and the quality we've known for over 25 years when we brought our parents here. The prices have increased, but several items have declined. Sticking to mostly pizza for now when we go back.

Use to go there at least every other week. No more. Never seen a new owner do more to alienate his regulars. Rising prices, no salad with entree, changing recipes , FROZEN SPINACH??? Half the reason I went here besides being a good value was because they had keno. They used to have a dedicated keno counter. Gone! I asked a passing manager "Why no more keno" and was told it was a staffing issue. I smirked as I saw a bar with only 2 people, (none of the regulars that were always there) and 2 bartenders looking bored to death.

The Villa used to be one of our favorites but boy have they changed. not only have the prices got up, but a salad is extra and pasta is extra now. Prices are almost at Boston level, so what used to be a neighborhood favorite. Ordered the mussels last night and they were so unbearably salty. I could barely eat them. he had the chicken cacciatore and didn't finish it. He said it wasn't as good as it used to be all this makes us very sad as it is very close to our house and we really did enjoy it.

Note: This is our first visit since the change in ownership. We've been a few times previously and always enjoyed our visit. One of the draws to this place was Keno, and I'm sorry to report that it's gone. Finito. Gonzo. What the hell... That is all.

Absolutely awful takeout experience, cold food, overcooked pasta, unrecognizable dishes, disappointing experience from previous visits under previous ownership/management.
