I'll be honest, we almost didn't come here because I usually follow the wisdom of crowds and when I saw the 4.1 rating I thought we might pass on visiting. I'm glad we came, it was a five star experience for me... The quality of the morning bun and tasty seasonal black sesame latte I had were very high and we'll definitely come back (at least to another location). It was a little bit noisy and it seems like the lines could swell during busy times but that doesn't take away from the overall rating for me.

Latte was more like milk, no coffee flavor, I ordered a large. They should automatically make it a 2 shot, just being cheap.

The staff inside seemed completely disengaged from their work. At the ordering counter, there were three girls and one boy. One of them was chatting with three customers the whole time—they seemed to be friends.
I stood at the counter for over ten minutes, and no one came to ask what I wanted. In the end, I had to tap on the glass to get their attention before they finally took my order.

This is a favorite stop to pick up treats when I am heading to see family in a nearby town, or to get something to have on the plane home. It has a busy urban feel to it. The space is quite large with lots of small bistro tables or a larger communal table often shared. With tile walls, it does get noisy at the peak times. Pastries, quiches, sandwiches have been my favorites.

I visit Boston 6 times a year and I wish more but when I do I love Tatte. The food is always top notch and atmosphere great. However, I dont know why but there have been on numerous locations some kind of fruit fly or nat that is present. That does take away from conversations and the full dining experience. Otherwise...Tatte is a must stop.

This used to be a favorite, but the last couple times the food has been late, stale, just generally feels phoned in.
IMHO It’s too pricey for mediocre.
Today I took a friend for a birthday breakfast and the breakfast sandwich was over cooked, then when requested as a reorder it was undercooked. Finally we received a sandwich where the bread was chewy.
This used to be the best breakfast sandwich around! Thin sourdough, toasted perfectly with bacon, egg over easy and cheese- today was thick, chewy and underdone.
Service was equally atrocious. When we asked about an egg being ordered “over easy” but being delivered uncooked, we were told it was “egg preference”.
Next time we will hit up Captain Marden’s for a fun special breakfast outing.

Ordered a breakfast sandwich and asked to substitute the callah bread with sourdough..the woman taking my order said no..the manager came over and said no..I changed my order frustrated since this ia a bakery and they make and slice sourdough on the premises...to quiche which they said they did not have..It's a shame tatte stated as a great restaurant and idea but as it has expanded it has lost its meaning and customers as it also looses another one...

Impolite staff and small portions.

Staff is not friendly.
Food is not as good as it used to be, e.g. grilled cheese is mostly thick bread (tastes good, though).
Restrooms lack maintenance and cleaning

Fairly big tatte with lots of counter seating, all of which have outlets below! Most of the other tables are two seaters, and the cafe is reliably packed at every given hour even beyond usual peak rush hour. Line can get pretty long at times. Other than that, service is very fast and food is as great as always!

Pastries taste stale and the baristas always seem to have an attitude and are not friendly. I've been there several times and it's the same experience each time. I stopped going.
I’ve always enjoyed the food there and used to get their desserts all the time. However, after today’s terrible service, I may need to reconsider. The line for croissants and cakes was extremely long during lunchtime. After waiting for quite a while, I finally reached Vanessa and placed my usual order. I paid, including a tip, and she handed my order to another woman in green who was in charge of packing and pickup, saying she would take care of it.
After about five minutes, I noticed that the woman in green was helping other customers instead of finishing my order. I stayed patient as she assisted one person, then another, who were still in the middle of the line. But when she started helping a third customer without acknowledging me, I went back to Vanessa to ask what was going on. Her response was that the other woman was helping me. And the woman in green came to me and told that she simultaneously worked with multiple customers at the same time, which made no sense—how could she manage several people while completely ignoring my order?
At that point, I couldn’t help but feel upset. There were no apologies or attempts to fix the situation, just excuses. Eventually, the woman in green handed me my order and told me bluntly that she simply did not want to serve me. That’s when I realized the truth behind the whole incident.

The stress of finding an open seat at the most crowded yet mediocre Tatte in the Boston area is absolutely not worth the shrinking portions and dropping quality.
