Expensive but worth it. Staff is helpful and the dish is always top quality. We are addicted to the squid salad but not fond of some of the breaded prepared croquettes

Very tasty, but portions small....would like to see better satisfaction for $. I will give this place another shot , but not raving

This was one of the worst meals - especially embarrassing as I brought family from out of town who were looking for a lobster dinner. We ordered apps because we were told we had to wait 45 minutes for our food - but they came out at the same time as our food (which our server explained when delivering that we ordered them after we placed our dinner order (reality it was 7 minutes later). When the lobsters arrived, 4 of the 5 were cold and overcooked. Also, when our meals were delivered, the server also informed us that they ran out of half the ordered sides, and brought us what they had left (cooked corn and French fries). One of our party ordered a salad with hot chicken - which came out 20 minutes after we got our lobsters - while the chicken was hot, it was like rubber. By way of apology for the late chicken salad, our server told us we would get a discount (which was a whopping 20% discount off the $11 salad). Whether the problem was with the kitchen or the service (but in reality it was both) - it doesn’t really matter because we will not be going back. Over-rated and not worth it!!!

I was expecting better food, considering the reviews. Service was ok. It was a bit noisy. The Maryland crab cakes (appetizer) were quite good. The New England clam chowder was bland and gummy. I had to add salt. Just lackluster.

It's just a nice little seafood place in the area. Was in town for an event at the local Marriott, and it took me a while to find this place, as their listing is not very clear on Yelp. It's much better on other platforms. We had nine of us, and we ordered most of the items on the menu. Great all-around seafood options. I went with the grilled captains seafood platter, shrimp, scallops, and Haddock. some of the others went with lobster rolls and others with fish dishes. I started with the Calamari, which was just perfectly fried. Clam strips and an order crab rangoon. nicely fried in a fresh oil and not really loving the crab Rangoon. Then, an order of clam chowder. Needed something. It could have used a little more flavor and more clams. Our wait staff was excellent! made sure we had everything our large party needed and a full restaurant.

So the problem is this is the incorrect name on the business. The Captain's Table is what they have on the building. It's just a nice little seafood place in the area. Expensive but good fish. Tom is especially knowledgeable--buy his cookbook! That was the fish store. Regarding the restaurant, it's BYOB. Prices are fair. Food is straightforward but well prepared. Service, though friendly, is painfully slow.

We showed up 11:20am and were told the restaurant was closed for breakfast, even though there is a sign outside saying breakfast 8-12. The staff were rude about it. Maybe take the sign down outside?

Lobster - good taste/quality - I got 1.5lbs but it seemed smaller/less meat than what I usually get from Maine of the same weight. They serve it partially broken up already but lobster-eaters, we know how much lobster come out of the tail or claws. This was not a 1.5’er - butter tasted like butter flavored cooking oil than melted butter chowder - decent but not great Onions rings - delicious and crispy Shrimp cocktail - just alright; usual cocktail sauce Service: TOOK FOREVER! I’m guessing they were more focused on their Take Out orders. We came early at 5:45 and got our orders 6:30 and others much later. The server was great but the kitchen took long.

If other reviews of long wait times have put you off, go a little later. When my husband and I were seated around 7pm, many tables started opening up and there was no wait behind us. That said, the food was every bit worth the wait. I had a daily special of swordfish and I’m hoping they have it next time we go. Everything was perfectly cooked. It’s not fancy, but clean and comfortable. Obviously, it’s popular for a reason. The staff may have been overwhelmed at moments with the flood of take out orders, but they were patient and helpful throughout.

Best fried clams (with bellies) I have ever had. Period. Lobster salad was delish too.

I drove 50ish miles from Rhode Island for dinner and it was well worth it. Best seafood I've ever had. Located on a residential street in Wellesley in what looks to be the old railroad depot with the tracks just steps from the parking lot. A generous square of homemade cornbread is delivered with the menu. I had the broiled scallops dinner. Scallops were lightly coated in Ritz cracker-like breadcrumbs. My two sides: excellent cole slaw, and a simple but refreshing lettuce & tomato salad with balsamic. Everything touching on one plate, just the way I like it. My friends had grilled shrimp and scallops with different sides. We all agreed it was the best seafood we've had and the prices, just down the road from Boston, were reasonable. The dining room is smallish so we were glad to have gotten there early, at 5. Attached to the restaurant is a fish market, or maybe it's the other way around. I'm going to be thinking about those melt-in-your-mouth scallops and look forward to bringing some of my friends up to Captain Marden's soon.

Gem of a fish market packed with great choices and helpful staff who know their seafood. I come here for the steamers and prepared foods, but you're not going to find better live lobsters anywhere else.
